I booked this hotel on lastminute.com and got a very good deal on a prestige double room. I got 3 nights for the price of two.

The hotel location is good but not great. The area the hotel's in is very posh and upmarket but it 's a good 10 minute walk to Spanish Steps. And about 20 - 25 minute walk to the Colosseum.

There is a few restaurants near the hotel but they are abit on the pricey side. We went to the main areas of town for food.

The hotel room had everything you could have wanted - Hair dryer, tv, small balcony with view, mini bar, safe, big wardrobe, sofa, hyrdo shower and air conditioning. The bed is large but isn't the comfiest and you only get one pillow each. But the room was very clean and nicely designed.

The breakfast in the hotel was fine because it was included in the price so I couldn't really complain. If I had paid extra for it I wouldn't have been that impressed. It was your basic ham, cheese, jam and fruit juice, no hot food. Also the breakfast was not served on a roof top balcony. It was on the 7th floor which was indoor.

Overall this is a decent hotel if you get a good deal.

When my friend and I arrived and went to have bath in the Junior Suite room allocated, it did not have hot water. A hotel plumber spent 2-3hours back and forth in the room trying to fix the problem. During this time I informed reception that I was unhappy with the service and wanted a new room I was told to wait for the plumber to fix things. After being told the issue was fixed and having to complain a third time that the problem still existed I was moved with my luggage back through to the main hotel and was offerred a dirty less appealing room. We explained the room was dirty and had black smudges and marks all over the white wall, we would accept a room of the same standard we had booked or better but the room shown was not suitable. My friend was on crutches with an injured knee and we were sent back in the lift with luggage to the other building to the original room with claims the issue had been fixed but in fact there were still problems with the water not being hot. After hours of dealing with an issue that shouldn't have occurred, finally a nicer room was offerred which had hot water but we had to pay extra to stay in it. There was a spa opposite the bed in this new room but it leaked and we spent days with towels at the base of it while we tried to avoid slipping on the wet tiles. I received much better service in budget accomodation throught Europe, I was appalled by the poor treatment and lack of service provided by Hotel Romanico. It was not a nice welcome to Rome. As far as sleep goes, in the mornings you could hear cleaners banging on doors to see if people were in there and then hallway phones ringing off the hook whilst reception try to get in touch with the cleaners. Also, beware because the price of the shuttle to the airport increased from the time I initially queried it at reception to the time I went to book it a couple days later. I would tell others to avoid this hotel if you want to have good service with warm welcome and relaxing stay in Rome, In this case you don't get what you pay for.

We were trying to decide between Hotel Romanico Palace and Hotel Campo de Fiore. Both were the same price and both had balconies. We decided on Hotel Romanico Palace, even though it is not in the city center, it's only a 5-7 minute walk to the Spanish Steps, then another 3-5 minutes to the Trevi fountain from there. We booked directly through the hotel to ensure we received the exact room that we wanted (The Roman Empirial Suite). The Customer Care representatives were great in helping us book the room. The Guest relations / concierge (Iliana) was extremely helpful and courteous through e-mails. She arranged a private driver to and from the airport to hotel. She also helped arrange a bouquet of flowers that were in the room on arrival along with chilled Italian Sparking wine that was delivered to our room within minutes of checking in. She was also instrumental in answering all our questions about laptop rentals and internet access during our stay. Our luggage was brought up by the bell boy and our welcome to Rome was amazing. The huge private balcony with Jacuzzi was a joy to come home to after a long day of walking and site-seeing!
I am guessing that the negative reviews on this hotel are based individuals that were booking their rooms through a bargain middle-man website. Well, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for a bargain price, then you will receive a bargain experience.
We paid 300 Euros a night for the corner suite (which is a bargain) for a private terrace with a Jacuzzi. The hotel is two blocks from the Westin Excelsior and is 1/4 the price with all the luxury. The rooftop breakfast was great and it started our day off right. I cannot thank the hotel staff enough for making our first trip to Rome amazing. The entire staff was extremely helpful and spoke perfect English. We really enjoyed "La Dolce Vita" in our Roman Empirial Suite. Thanks so much Iliana!

We will not stay at the Hotel Romanico Palace again. After doing research on the Internet about this hotel, we were severely disappointed in our room and the hotel once we arrived.

Our first room was awful. It was not clean; the lighting was terrible due to all exposed bulbs; the shower was difficult to operate and soaked the bathroom; the hair dryer barely functioned; the TV did not work and made a disturbing zapping noise when turned on; and we had a cornerof the room that was walled off with just sheetrock. After complaining to the hotel staff, we were told that there was nothing that could be done to change rooms. When we asked again the next day, we were told we could move to a better room, but only if we paid for an upgrade. Since we were so miserable in the first room, we opted for the upgrade.

Our second room was rather large and had multiple sets of french doors that provided great views of the surrounding area, as well as a large bathroom. The room still wasn't totally clean and needed some minor repairs/fixing up. But it was a vast improvement from the first room, and we were happy to have made the switch.

The extra services at the hotel are also rather expensive, even for Rome. The Wi-Fi access was pricey, and it was not convenient to have to go down to the lobby to buy tickets to the use the Wi-Fi (especially since the elevators were out of service nearly the whole time we were there). Breakfast was expensive as well, so we did not opt to have breakfast. Laundry was ridiculous, so we opted not to do our laundry through the hotel.

The location of the hotel is fine. Rome is very walkable city and easy to navigate, so the location was fine for visiting the main sites. We would have been happier staying closer to the historical center instead.

Although a little off the beaten track, this hotel is in a nice, quiet location. The staff are friendly and efficient. The hotel is quaint in the public areas. The rooms are a little worn, but nice overall. Bed could use a new mattress - gave a new meaning to the word "firm". The breakfast room is a highlight. The choice of foods is very good. The room itself provides a nice view of the surrounding area and is glass enclosed for rainy days. Overall a good choice when in Rome.

After been dreaming about Rome fore a lot of years we finaly decided to spend our 25-year weddinganniversery in Rome. I carefully choose between the hotels in our pricerange and fund this.
The interiour is a kitch dream in red and gold with ornaments just about everywhere. I loved it. Our room was quite small but sufficent. Even the bath was in gold and red.
The breakfast room on the top floor was nice and had all that you needed exept eggs.
The area was quiet and had a few restaurants close by. We ate at La Cantina just a couple of hundred meters up the street. Very nice food and wine at a reasonable cost. Highly recomended.
We hade o lovely stay at Romanico Palace
