Prime Hotel Saint John is located in a walking distance from Colosseum. The room was clean and tidy and the bathroom had jacuzzi. It is a definetely 4 stars hotel and I would go back there again for the price I paid for!

whilst the rooms were very small, the hotel was very clean and well run. The reception staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. It didn't matter that the hotel room was small because the purpose of our visit was to sightsee and explore the wonderful city of Rome. Walking distance to the Coliseum and easy access to the metro providing easy access to all the main sights.

I stayed with my mom at this hotel for 3 nights on December 2008. The hotel is fairly new, with a contemporary style. The room was clean but really tiny. If the bathroom door was open, I couldn't pass by. The temperature was great for when we were coming back from the cold weather. The bathroom was big and clean. The tv wasn't working the first night and when I called the front desk, they told me they didn't have a maintance person in at that time. They never offered to change rooms or anything. The tv was fixed the next day. The hotel is walking distance to the colisseum but far from the rest of the attractions, even thou the subway is 1 block 1/2 from the hotel. We walked from the subway station to the hotel at night and it was dark and lonely, but we made it there safely. Breakfast was great and a great way to start the day. The front desk service was just not very friendly, but just ok. Something that surprised me was that they didn't have internet service. The closest one was around the corner from the subway.

We had never used the top secret hotel booking before and were quite reluctant to do so but we had no need to be as the hotel was better than expected.
On arrival we found the street the hotel was on to be very quiet although it was only 2 minutes from the nearest metro station and 10 mins from the colesseum.
The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful as soon as we arrived, they gave us maps to show the nearest station, restauraunts and tourist spots etc.
They were able to answer every question with ease.

The rooms were lovely, if a little hot at nights. (We constantly had the window open)
Two tips for the room:
1) Take your own hair dryer
2) The temperature in the shower is very temperamental.

Perfect hotel for a perfect city!!

I stayed for five nights in early March. The hotel is very clean; the subway is two blocks away and the hotel itself is in a reasonably safe area of the city. Many atractions are walking distance, but at 1 euro a trip or 4 euros a day for unlimited use, you'll probably find the subway useful - there will be plenty of walking even if you do make use of it.

There are a few decent restaurants nearby for evenings when you're too tired to be bothered to go far, but no restaurant in the hotel. There are local shops where you can find the odd things you need, and a nearby internet cafe if you don't want to bring your laptop (the lobby is a wireless hotspot apparently, but I didn't try it myself - my vacation included a break from email!)

I have a few criticisms. First, the breakfast buffet is okay but not stellar. They do have the worst damn coffee I have ever had the misfortune of getting out of one of those automatic machines. It was netiher cappichino nor plain coffee, but some sort of weak, frothy inbetween thing whose sole virtue was caffeine content. Since the buffet doesn't start until 7am, if you're a morning person each day can be a bit of a coffee crisis. There are nearby coffee places which are quite good.

Second, I found the desk staff to be amazingly helpful and friendly. They were endlessly willing to give directions and advice. However, they distribute some written directions on how to get to certain locations using public transportation, and some of their busstop information is not correct. However, all things considered, they do a fabulous job of helping their guests get around the city and with a bit of double-checking that sheet they'll be first-rate in this respect.

The rooms are very comfortable, but the climate control can be a bit off. I believe they were running the heating during my visit - the lobby would be comfortable but my third floor room got quite hot at times and I was opening the window to get comfortable. With all the pretty incandescent lighting, it can get really warm - I had to turn off most of the lights as well to avoid a broil situation. It was manageable, but I can see problems in warmer months - request a lower-floor room away from the street is my advice.

Some people seem to think this hotel is expensive, but it's really very affordable for Rome in general, especially considering the location. I would stay there again - if you want more creature comforts, expect to pay quite a bit more than their rates.

I've stayed in quite a few European hotels and it's always a bit of a shock if most of your travel experience is in the US. This one is quite good value in my opinion.

We were pleasantly surprised by this great hotel! The location is ideal- not too touristy, super close to the subway and various bus lines. About fifteen minute walk to Termini Station or the Colloseum- pretty amazing. The breakfast buffet was fantastic but very heavy. Lots of meats, cheeses, pastries- very Italian. The place has been newly remodeled and feels very chic and botiquey. The rooms are smallish but have everything you will need including a spacious closet and plasma tv. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I hope to stay here again.

Yes, as others have stated, there is a school yard next to the hotel, but knowing this, simply request a room on the other side of the hotel, as I did, and everything was great! The rooms are modern, and best of all clean. It is about a block and a half from the metro which takes you to all of sites, and is also very close to the Colosseum. Also, if you have time the hotel is only minutes from a great (very little known) attractrion called Basillica St. Clement http://www.sacred-destinations.com/italy/rome-san-clemente.htm
The hotel has a free breakfast as many of the hotels in Italy so, but in my experience they offered the most extensive and FRESH choices. This hotel was a great bargain because we are on a budget. If you stay (or eat) on a Piazza which us Americans think is so great, you will most likely be waaay overpaying, and typically getting something very sub-par simply for the location. Prime Hotel St. John is slightly off the beaten path, but extremely easily accessible.
