“Perfect little bolthole”
Reviewed 5 November 2012

Four of us girls spent 3 nights here in September 2012 before heading to Tuscany. Tucked away down the tiniest of backstreets we had one great big window and a tiny shower, a well stocked kitchen in the communal area and comfortable dining table - we said hello to fellow guests but did our own thing. Clean, comfortable, well looked after - for the price we couldn't fault it. Would go back and would recommend to others. FAB. (The lift in the building where reception is is terrifying).

First, this is not a hotel, it's a Bed and Breakfast. The best about this place is the location. 50 m to Campo di Fiori and 100 m to Piazza Navona. There is no way to stay more central. We had breakfast included for 5 extra Euro per person and got tickets for an "Italian breakfast" of excellent Capuccino and Croissant at the nearby (30 m) cafe Primo. Worth the 5 Euro. Rooms situated two stairs up (no lift) are small, clean and quite ok. A bit noisy at night but you have to remember that this is in the middle of the action. The service upon arrival was a dissapointment. We had pre-booked a transfer via Navona First but it never showed up so we had to take a normal cab (and saved 15 Euro :) ). Arriving at the rooms we had to wait for 20 min before someone arrived to help us with the check-in even though we had phoned at the airport. After check-in and payment we never saw any staff again during our 3 day stay. In summary: Perfect location, rooms ok, and service so-so. I guess you get what you pay for.

Room Tip: There is one room not facing the street. This is the one to book if you are easily disturbed by nois...

Lovely accommodation with a warm and helpful reception from Anna and Nadia. Our room was quite spacious and modern including some amazing modern artwork. The bathroom was also very modern with ample space. The location was so close to transport and some of the best and quaintest cafes and restaurants. One could easily not move from the area and just feed off Campo Di Fiori, Piazza Navona and the side streets of Navona. We difinitely recommend staying here. You just have to get used to entering via those amazing front doors and then climbing just one flight of those marvellous old marble stairs to your accommodation. Don't worry there is an elevator. A big thank you again Anna and Nadia for making us feel so welcome and being there to help us when we needed it.
Auguri da Rosemary e John.

Nadia was nice and helpful; she even knew where Fresno, California was! Room was clean, bed comfortable, shower was small (remember this is Europe!). Location was excellent. If you are looking for an style American hotel, stay home; this is a converted apartment in an older building. Price was excellent and you got the taste of living in Rome. At this location no breakfast was served. They work hard to make you feel at home.

Room Tip: We stayed at the Navona Luxury Home

From start to finish our family trip was perfect! Nadia and Anna were very friendly and helpful always. Our loft room was perfect for our two boys, ages 8 and 10. They loved having their own room above. The room was very clean and a great size. The view from the window was beautiful as you looked at the old italian building with overflowing flowers on a balcony and vespa's parked below. Very quiet at night. As you stepped out of the front door you are only feet away from wonderful stores and restaurants. Piazza Navona is just a few minutes away. The open area in our apt for breakfast was great and we met such wonderful people. We would stay here again and definitely recommend this hotel to any families taking a trip to Rome. No worries about hot water or pressure..there was plenty of both. Very accommodating!

Room Tip: Loft Room!

The best part about this hotel was the location. It was a little scare for facilities but the room was clean and the few interactions we had with the staff were great. I recommend this to travelers looking to stay right in the heart of the city. If you are looking for a full service hotel or onsite parking you should look at other options. The value was good for our family and the room was clean.

A great location is the only good thing i can say about this place.

There was water dripping through the bathroom ceiling above the toilet and bathroom door. We came back at the end of every day wondering if the ceiling would have collapsed. There is no reception in the building to complain to as this is basically just rooms in a shared building, We did call at the building a couple of streets away that houses reception and buzzed the door but there was no reply so we gave up, we did mention it as we checked out but nobody was interested.

The toilet seat was broken and the shower head bracket was broken so the shower head was at waist height. The bedroom was ok although the sheets were so thin my husband moved his elbow and it went through the sheet. The sheets also had some dubious looking stains on them as did the towels. My husband also claimed to be itchy in bed although he may just have been paranoid as there were lots of little flying things in the room that kept landing on us. The wifi was poor unless you sat on the floor just inside the door.

The 'hotel' -i use the word loosely' - has 2 seperate locations - and reception is housed in a third building - all are closed doors with buzzers. We arrived at the address we were staying at -piazza cancelleria (closest to campo fiori) and buzzed the door - - and there was no one there. We went to the other address and buzzed the door - there was no one there. Luckily a friend of the receptionist happened to be passing and directed us to the building which houses reception. We buzzed the door and the receptionist came down and led us back to the original building - not the ideal start when you are carrying luggage and the weather is warm.

We had booked BB Residenza Navona First and where we actually stayed was San Pantaleo rooms which was basically a hostel with an ensuite. We paid 95 euros cash a night. I am not fussy and don't expect 5 star luxury at this price but this was definately the worst place I have ever stayed.
