This was my 78 year old mother and mine favorite hotel during our 2 week visit to Italy. The room was quiet and comfortable. Hard to believe we were in noisy Rome. It was an oasis of peace and quite. The neighborhood is great like has been said by everyone else. We felt safe and secure walking the streets of this lovely neighborhood. Of course it was a quiet time of year. The weather was cold which meant none of the outdoor cafes were busy - so most nights the streets were virtually empty. The breakfast was always good - we had fresh fruit every morning. One day they even served us strawberries and this was the end of November. The only complaint and it isn't the fault of the hotel was tha the driver we hired from the airport could not find the narrow little street where the hotel was located. It wasn't even on his GPS system. We literally drove around in circles for over 30 minutes trying to find the right one way streets so that he could deliver us to the door of the hotel. He wouldn't just drop us off in the the Plazza Santa Maria. Turns out the hotel was only a block from the plazza. But he was determined to get us there himself. The best part about this hotel is the staff. Chiara at the front desk went above and beyond the call of duty for me and I will always be in her debt. I left my eyeglasses in a taxi on our second to last day in Rome. Not only did she track down the cab driver who had picked us up from the hotel but the next day she arranged to have the cab driver meet us at the Borghese Gallery to give me my glasses. I call that service. I didn't think I would like Rome but Romans like Chiara proved to me that the Romans are much nicer and friendlier than the Italians we met in other Northern Italian cities like Florence and Venice.

Choosing the Residenza Santa Maria as our hotel in Rome was an excellent choice and we are sorry it has taken us this long to post our positive review. The hotel had just opened a few weeks prior to our arrival, but the service we received was outstanding in every way. The staff made us feel very welcome and right at home from the moment we were picked up at the airport by the driver the hotel arranged for us via e-mail correspondence during the planning stage of our trip. Our room was lovely and the breakfast was more than ample as well as very good. Any request we had for a taxi or recommendations for restaurants and other information were always provided in a most friendly and professional manner. We enjoyed staying in the Trastevere area and the Residenza Santa Maria will always be our home when we visit Rome.

I cannot say enough about how great this hotel was. Warm and friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms - service above and beyond. We stayed in 5 star hotels like the Rocco Forte chain in other cities and I felt more comfortable and taken care of at the Residenza.

There are tons of good restaurants surrounding the hotel, so you don't have to walk far to get good food - and getting to the more touristy things is just as easy - a quick 10 minute walk and you're in Campo di Fiore.

Anyone is welcome to contact me if they have questions about it - I will make it a point to stay here every time I am in Rome.

Although the heavy rain and floods ruined our trip to Rome, we felt at home in this cosy hotel. The room was good, the breakfast could have been better. Some fresh produce would be appreciated.
But all in all it was a very pleasant experience.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Free internet for guests which was brilliant. Fabulous breakfast spread - best we had in the 7 weeks we were in Italy. The hotel is in a very trendy area. Lots of interesting gift shops and nice restaurants. The rooms are very lovely. Really can't go wrong staying here.

The Residenza San Calisto ( previously know Residenza Santa Maria), is a small exclusive Hotel de charme, located I the heart of Rome, just a stone's from the magnificent and picturesque square of Santa Maria in Trastevere. This boutique Hotel is the result of the skilful restoration of a 17th century building. The whole house is dominated by brick arches, wooden ceilings, artistic hand painted frescos and wall decorations which give to the Residenza Santa Maria an atmosphere of refined elegance. BC, decorated by original ancient Roman artifacts found on site during restoration of the building, guests can enjoy a rich and delicious buffet breakfast, (scramble or boiled eggs, ham, cheese, salami, fresh bread, assortment of biscuits, cakes, fresh fruits, yogurt, fresh croissants, selection of fruit juices etc.). Thanks to great location, from the Residenza Santa Maria, guests can easily reach the main tourist sites like Campo de' Fiori, Navona Square, the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi's fountain, the Roman Forum and Coliseum with just a relaxing stroll through a maze of fascinating medieval streets. The Vatican Museum/Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Square are a few minutes away.
