Despite the fact the apartment is lovely, clean and in a brilliant location we had nothing but trouble during our weekend family break.
We were broken into twice and had a number of personal items stolen, despite the fact there are two locked doors to gain entry into the apartment block as well as the door to our apartment.
When we contacted the representative the night of the first break in ,we never heard back from the company until the next day-14 hours later! When he eventually got back to us the next day at lunchtime ,he suggested the burglary was our fault for not triple locking the door of the apartment, which we had done.
When we discussed filing a police report he told us that the Italian police had very poor English and we could spend up to 6 hours at the police station so there was no point.
Following this we continued to triple lock our door and ensure the other doors were shut as we left the apartment block
There were approx 10 other apartments in our block
The night before we left we returned from dinner to discover that we had been burgled again with more personal items taken.
As previously, there was no obvious break in and the doors were all locked as we left them.
When we contacted the rep that night,he again did not answer or phone us back.
As we had a very early flight the next day ,we did not have an opportunity to contact the police
We have been emailing the company since we returned and they have not responded.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but we should have gone to the police in the first instance and should have insisted on a change of apartment.
The circumstances of the burglary seem very suspicious to us and we don't know why the company have been reluctant to get in touch with us.
Given what has happened to date, we would not recommend this accommodation or company to fellow travellers. We want to warn any further travellers of the risks and believe this should be either investigated by trip advisor or the apartment taken off your website.
We loved Rome but this experience has left us shaken.
