We went here looking for artichokes and we're not disappointed. The "fried" artichoke was otherworldly. So delicious. As the entree, my friend and I ordered the turbot. We observed our waiter rushing into the kitchen carrying something that looked fresh and with a fin. Hmmm we thought, was that the Turbot? Indeed, a few minutes later the waiter wheeled it out, fully cooked and after showing it off to us, proceeded to deconstruct it onto our plates. I think we made noises as we took the first bites. Both of us agreed it was the best fish we've ever tasted. Elegant service reminded me of going to restaurants years ago with my father. What a special evening.

I lived in Rome for 15 years, and left when I was 22. This explanes why I did not know this magnificent restaurant, only a few blocks away from my school, but out of range when I counted on my student allowance. Fortunately this time I was there wife my wife for lunch, and it was a treat! The antipasti range is very good, bbeing the artichokes, in their different recipes, the pièce de resistence. The fiori di zucca ( zucchini flowers stuffed with mozzarella, anchove and pan fried) are so good that you could keep going on on a entreés only and feel happy.
The ravioli have their little secret, with the lemon scent that make the spinach and ricotta cheese feeling so divine! We had white Frascati Superiore wine at a decent 9.50€ the bottle. The ricotta tarte we had for dessertwas outstanding. Be aware that they take long holidays on august, christmas and easter. Must go!

For all the rave reviews, I would have expected much better.
The location can hardly be described as nice, I would describe it as a mash up between alley and a motor court.. The interior is as tacky as any strip mall mom and pop Italian joint...(though some credit to the staff who were over dressed..)

The service was great the food was just average and certainly not worth the price..
We ordered two different veal plates, and I ordered the lamb, all was over cooked and just meh...
I also ordered seafood risotto and that was so fishy and over seasoned...

We did the fried asparagus antipasti as well as the squash flowers stuffed and fried..

We didn't stay for dessert...

Wine list was weird and the recommendations were lackluster....

Quanta pazienza.......

Staff were very snobby and rude, and the food is completely overpriced. It is in a very lovely area in the jewish quarter but did not meet our expectations. Do not recommend..

make a reservation so you can sit outside and have lunch at Piperno, a simple but elegant restaurant in a cool location with excellent food. Order lots of starters (artichoke is a must as is the salumi) and then a pasta. This and some good wine will make you very happy. one of the waiters, who has probably been with the place for the last 60 years is very funny. when we asked for a little lemon to squeeze onto our frito misto, we got a very clear "no!" when we asked for the jamon iberico, another "no"! we surrendered and let him bring what he thought we should have and had a terrific lunch.
