This was off the 'tourist path' but well worth it. The hotel was amazing, clean, and the staff was VERY helpful. We would stay here again and the bus and train station are very close so you get every through out Rome. Would stay here again!

When arriving from the airport the hotel is about a 10 minute walk away from Tuscolana station - a 40 minute direct train ride from the airport. Alternatively the nearest subway stop, Re Di Roma, is 4 stops from the main station, Termini.

The hotel is very clean and the rooms reasonably spacious for Europe! Free wifi throughout the hotel, no too expensive mini-bar, adequate toiletries and lots of TV channels if you need them! There is a continental buffet breakfast included, no eggs but plenty of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, bread, tea and coffee to get you started for the day. There are a couple fo supermarkets and other shops nearby the subway station.

The staff all speak good English.

I'm sure usually getting around Rome's subway is easy but at the moment there is lots of construction going on and Line A (which serves the hotel) was completely closed during August. There are replacement buses to Termini and back but it's a bit of a pain. There are plenty of other buses around though. I thought the Rome subway system was grim and thoroughly needs modernising.

It is possible to walk everywhere from the hotel if you are a keen walker! It took me about 30 minutes to reach the Colisseum and I even manage to walk back from the Vatican, via Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain etc in a couple of hours.

I would stay here again but probably check about the subway. Be careful of pickpockets - especially around Termini station.

Just metres from the metro stop of the same name, the unassuming Hotel Re di Roma is especially economical for high season and offers some respite from the tourist mob as it’s located just outside the city’s historic centre. With comfortable, minimalist rooms, it could exceed most expectations for a 3-star hotel if it weren’t for the lack of signage, the manual reception, and the use of room keys. Unlike most establishments, this hotel actually provides a small soap bar for the sink and another larger one for the shower. But this seemingly thoughtful gesture becomes rather pointless as the shower does not have a soap tray, forcing guests to use their creativity to compensate for poor design. While a typical continental breakfast buffet is included, an unexpected feature is definitely the endless cable channels, which may be a common perk among hotels that can’t simply rely on their proximity to tourist attractions.

This hotel was good value for the price. It is a little out of the centre of town but right near the Metro station. The room, bed and bathroom were very comfortable. The breakfast was ok- not great quality italian produce as I had expected. The staff were helpful in directions and what we needed. I would recommend this hotel if you dont mind having to catch transport to attractions in Rome.

We stayed here the latter part of July 2011 - This hotel is very clean and in a wonderful location right off the subway stop (just a few mins walk to the hotel). Breakfast buffet was the best we had in all of Europe with the espresso machines putting out the strongest best espresso I've had! We did not get a chance to stay in hotels with free wi-fi but this was one of them and that was very nice as well. Service at the front desk was great and the person at the front desk even walked us a block to a Chinese Restuarant when we inquired about getting Chinese food. We would definitely stay here again if we visit Rome. Also, during this part of our trip we had to do laundry and found a laundromat just a few blocks down the street as well as a grocery store. Nice when you are travelling with family.

Great place for exploring Rome, especially when you take the slow train from the airport (FCO) to Tuscolana (8 euro single), walk to the hotel in ten minutes, and -with your reservation- have requested a standard room with a balcony. Not only are you near the metro B-station Re di Roma in this hotel, and, when the metro's being worked on, and you can't find the replacement bus, you're just outside the Rome walls and within walking distance of a number of sights and/or a reasonable 14.00 euro taxi ride from Spagna.
Staff are super and multilingual, rooms not big but well-equipped with small minibar, there's free WiFi (great!) a sitting area and a 24/7 bar (!) plus an adequate breakfast which sets you up well enough for your Rome-exploring. Metrotickets can be bought from the tobacconists across the road. There's supermarket on the Re di Roma for (additional) food and drink. Enjoy this excellent base for a Rome-visit!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony when reserving. Same standard rooms get more room this way.

The hotel is located a little away from the main city center but it is not inaccessible ... its in a safe residential neighbourhood ... metro station is closeby but metro line A does not run after 9pm or so.

The rooms are clean ... looks like newly renovated ... have a nice bath tub ... all necessary amenities ... food is not available but there is a very nice bakery / pizza bar nearby ... breakfast can be better, but its manageable as Rome is not a city where you shud eat in the hotel ! ... pizza gelato pasta tiramisu ... its all heaven and its all out there on the streets!!

The hotel staff is definitely helpful .. have internet pc .. wifi connection ... airport pickup for a reasonable fee ... and decent location ... its not very far from Coloseum.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are good.
