“Quiet, tranquil b&b to return to after a busy day in the city of Rome.”
Reviewed 13 May 2013

Very nice b&b on the outskirts of Rome. Francesca's husband collected us from the airport. Flight was 1 hour late but he waited for our arrival - late at night. Normal taxi fare from the airport costs 30euros but during the day, the train costs only 1 euro into the city centre. Spottlessly clean rooms. Water was cold on first arrival but spoke with Francesca and it was piping hot by the time we returned to the accommodation. Beautiful home baking every morning for breakfast. Would certainly stay here again for another trip to Rome as it's a lovely quiet atmosphere to return to after a busy day in the city.

For Euros 50, I and my wife (we are Indians) got a large bedroom & bathroom with a cozy bed. But due to the distance from the city center, I would say the the room rent is effectively 90 Euros (taxi to and from the city center).
To add to this, if you have never travelled abroad, then the distance can be an additional stress factor (we almost missed our train to Florence because the trains and buses connecting this suburb to the city's metro network were not running frequently on that because it was a holiday). But if you are very comfortable with the means of transport, language and have considered the distance factor in your plan, then staying at this B&B will save you a lot of money (around 30-40 euros a day).
The other minor gripe that we have with this B&B is the gap in communication. If you do not know Italian, then communicating with Francesca and her caretakers can be a bit of a problem (or fun, depending on how you view it!)
I really feel bad for giving only 3 stars instead of five because we loved our bedroom and the ensuite bathroom and the hospitality extended to us by Francesca and her family (the dinner that we had with their entire family was a really nice experience)!

great service.fransesca's son picked us up from the train station which is very close to the hotel( there is a bus stop even closer ).the room was big and clean with a kitchen tha we weren't allowed to use but that was not a problem of us.federica. fransesca' s daughter gave us all the information about getting to the center by public transport.the hotel is about 20 minute far from the center and you have to take train or bus and then the metro.it's better if you use the bus because it's until more late in the night than the train.the breakfast was basic but they made us really nice coffee.be aware tha they have two dogs.

This is a very nice B&B type accommodation where you stay with an Italian family. Very reasonably priced for Rome at 50 euros for a double room. Very clean, spacious double room, en suite bathroom. You can also eat an evening meal there for 8 euros if you like, often with the family - a real experience if you have not experienced a traditional Italian family meal. The family are very friendly.

It's a bit far out of town, right on the Rome boundary, it takes about 45 mins to get to the city centre, but the public transport is good and regular (underground + train or bus) and it's only 1 euro each way. We arrived about 10 pm and were a little alarmed by our surroundings at 'La Rustica Citta' (the train station) as it looks run down, but the family came to meet us and show us the way to the house, which is a 5 minute walk.

We didnt explore the local area, it's residential, but there are a few places to eat and bars, although they are traditional Italian and not at all geared to the tourist.

The only negative thing was the heat last week (late July 2010) - it was 42 degrees and there is no AC or fan in the room and it was ridiculously hot. Also, ferocious mosquitoes descend at dusk (they dont last all night) so if you are in the room at dusk you have a choice - get eaten alive or roast yourself in the heat with the windows closed! But really, this was a minor inconvenience.

We would stay here again and would recommend it. My girlfriend is Italian and so she did all the communication in Italian (I'm English with very limited Italian skills!) - I think you'd get by with no knowledge of Italian but they only have basic English.

I arrived in Rome and was picked up at a nearby metro station by Francesca's daughter, which was great after travelling all night and day. The house itself is very close to a bus (#447) stop which takes you right to the metro. The room and bathroom were spotless and nicely decorated. The entire family was very friendly, although I wish I knew some Italian so I could communicate better! They were even willing to go out of their way and drive me to the metro station on occasion! Breakfast was light, but good, with fresh fruit and shortbread every morning. Even though it is a bit out of the way, the price and room were amazing. If you want a quiet retreat from the bustle and noise of Rome, this is your place.

Indeed, Francesca's Bed and Breakfast keeps its word and even more!! We, a family of four, enjoyed a clean and nicely furnished room, as well as a warm-hearted and welcoming family on the via Publio de Tommasi 19, in Rome.
Francesca's B&B is easy to reach by car and by public transport. There is no better way to start your day than with her Italian breakfast ( homemade 'dolci') and delicious coffee.
Francesca's is situated in a quiet area, although only 20 to 25 minutes away (by subway) from Rome's historical sites.
We couldn't have had a better place to stay to discover the wonders of Rome, and so we highly recommend a stay at Francesca's Bed and Breakfast.
A big thank you to Francesca and her family!
