Great tour, wonderful tour guide. Dario answered all questions, made the tour informative and enjoyable. Much better than trying to see the Museum on your own. Would definitely use them again for guided touring.

We did the Pompeii and Vesuvius Day Trip from Rome which we booked from the Dark Rome website (before it was known as City Wonders). We took a taxi to the meet-up point as indicated on our voucher and met up with the guides. I noticed that there were going to be a lot of people on the trip but thankfully they broke us into two groups of about 25 people each.

From the meet-up point we walked over to the bus and our journey began. We had two guides in our bus, Sarah and Louisa. Both were excellent as they kept us alert with stories of Pompeii and Rome through-out the journey (yes, they gave us time to sleep as well ha..ha). Their stories were very interesting and amusing as well so none of us were bored. Also, they stop at a rest stop along the way so everyone got to use the toilets and we even had time to grab a cup of coffee.

When we got to Pompeii, there were two local guides waiting for us - one for each group. Our guide, Enrico (if i recall correctly) was excellent. He thrilled us with information on Pompeii and threw in bits of humour here and there which got us chuckling. We had headsets on so it was very easy to hear him and we didn't have to crowd around him. Don't lose sight of your guide though, cos it's easy to get lost in Pompeii! Overall we were very happy with Enrico's tour and give him a big thumbs up.

After the tour, we headed for lunch, which was included in the tour cost. We each got a huge Napoli pizza to ourselves, a salad and a drink. The pizza was huge and delicious!

Unfortunately, after lunch, we got the news that the road to Vesuvius was backed up with traffic as it was a public holiday. A round of 'awwww' went around the group. Louisa and Sarah were quite well prepared though and quickly detoured us to Naples Archaeological Museum instead. They briefed us in the bus on what to expect and what to see in the museum when we got there. The museum is very good actually as it houses all the stuff that they found in Pompeii. Very interesting but it would have been awesome if we had a guided tour of it instead of having to wander around it ourselves.

It was sad that we didn't get to go up Mt. Vesuvius but I supposed unforeseen circumstances like this cant be helped. Perhaps a suggestion would be to do Vesuvius first and then do Pompeii after lunch that way Vesuvius would be guaranteed to be part of the itinerary.

The only reason I gave this tour a 4 star review is because I think that the cost of the tour is high, especially for one that has around 50 people in it. I don't usually like to join any tours that have more than 10 people in a group but this was the only day tour from Rome that covered Pompeii and Vesuvius and that took place on a Monday. No regrets but not being able to see Vesuvius was kind of a let down. I really wish it had been the first stop for the day as there would have been less traffic heading up.

All in, we had a great day out. It wasn't rushed, the pace was easy-going and our two guides, Louisa and Sarah kept us well-entertained the whole journey. They are both very good and we really enjoyed their stories. So I would definitely recommend this tour as it's quite relaxed and you get to see Pompeii and Vesuvius or the Naples Archaeological Museum.

Well run tour. I even emailed a question the week before our vacation and received a prompt and personal reply. The meeting place is a good location and the audio earphone is an excellent method to ensure that everyone can hear well.

David was by far the best tour guide I have ever had. He was witty and smart. It is obvious that he truly cares about his group and puts much effort into making sure each member is comfortable and is entertained. I especially appreciated how he maneuvered us so that we wouldn't be run over by the big and loud groups. I have never enjoyed a tour more.

The tour was excellent and our tour guide not only spoke very good english but she had a excellent knowledge of roman history. We would have been overwhelmed by it all had we done it on our own as there are so many ruins. We would highly recommend this company.

Really enjoyed this tour. Salvatore, our guide, was so good. We learned a lot and wouldn't have if we'd been alone.
