We chose to take out (instead of sit in). But you cannot eat on the Spanish Steps. Lovely little bit size desserts. Sandwiches and coffee were OK.

We visited it during our stay in Rome (for one night) through Milano, three years ago. It was my second time there. The most famous cafe of Rome, full of history, near Piazza di Spanga. Classic decoration and a lot of paintings. During 18th century, it was the "meeting" place for a lot of famous personalities (Chateaubriand, Nietzsche,Goethe, Baudelaire, Byron, etc) musicians and painters. Although it is very expensive (we ordered coffee and juice), you must visit it, even one time in your life!

I can't really write much that hasn't been written. This storied cafe that opened in 1760 is a nice, peaceful respite for shoppers. However, keep in mind that when you order a pot of tea, and get a small plate of complimentary assorted biscotti, you will pay dearly for the privilege of sitting in this cafe. I believe we paid about EUR 20,00 for the experience.

Their hot chocolate is legendary. I don't know anything about it from personal experience but I will try it the next time we're in Rome.

Overall you pay for white glove service and a nice atmosphere to relax in. This is not good value for money unless you are in a great need to get away from the general public for an hour.

Went for drinks before lunch. There was four of us and we were served beautifully by a chap in morning dress. The drinks came with a whole raft of canapes - each delicious. Although it is top dollar in price just remember Byron and the rest drank here!

Service was great and coffees were even better! Amazing to be in a historical place with lovely decor. Prices were a little high, but if you're in Rome, you have to grab coffee at the oldest coffee shop in Rome!
