“Gorgeous Little Hotel”
Reviewed 25 July 2011

This is a lovely little apartment/hotel in a great location in Rome, not far from the spanish steps and lots of shops and restaurants nearby. This is a really small place but gorgeous rooms although pretty small. Really well and tastfully decorated, free wireless internet in the rooms. Lovely breakfast serverd every morning in your room, which we eat on our balcony. You just have to call to let the staff know you're ready for your breakfast and it arrives to your room within 10 minutes. Hotel staff were really friendly. i'd definitely recommend this place and stay again if i ever come to Rome again. Thanks for a lovely stay.

We go to Italy every summer and my biggest complaint has always been the rooms are always hot- I actually brought a travel fan with me on this trip as my husband couldn't stand to hear me complain (hey he is not a 49 year old female-ladies you know what I mean about heat lol) Well at Casa Montani the fan stayed in the bag. It was gloriously cool in the room which was so welcome after the heat of the city. We only stayed on night on our way back from Sicily (stopping in Rome to have dinner with a friend) but from what I experienced the hotel was great! We were in a junior suite and the sheets were crisp and cool with huge fluffy pillows. Great attention to detail was used in all the furnishings. As I mentioned the AC is great and the room was so quiet we slept like babies. Breakfast is delivered in the morning via a cart which was nice so we could get ready for our flight and dine at the same time. I read some reviews that complained about the location but I didn't think it was a real issue, we found a little pizza place ten minutes after checking in and were happily dining away. The metro is right there so you can easily get about the city. The area is great for shopping- my husband bought a new suit and tie and in July the sales are fantastic. I would say it is a great value for the price and certainly a relaxing retreat from the city. I will post photos later on when I have a chance.

Room Tip: the junior suite is very nice and spacious

The family-run Casa Montani hotel exceeded our expectations. Staff was helpful, friendly, with good English-language skills. The room was comfortable, elegantly furnished and quiet. The bathroom was large and had a great shower. We became spoiled by the in-room breakfast that allowed us to start our day with a leisurely coffee in our pajamas. Highly recommend this lovely place.

My partner and I stayed at the Casa Montani for 3 nights during our recent trip to Italy. We found the hotel in the Lonely Planet guide, and after reading the good reviews on here we booked it easily through the hotel's website.
We arrived in Rome by train, from the Rome Termini we took the metro which literally brings you right outside the hotel door! The owners kindly sent us an email prior to our arrival detailing exactly how to get to the hotel from the train station, unfortunately we still got lost!! However I called the hotel and he directed us where we neeed to go. The hotel does not look like a hotel from the ouside, there is a big door (next to the 3 phone shop) which leads into a large hall. The hotel is located on the third floor - there is a lift.
We thought that the hotel and the level of service were excellent. The owners were very friendly and polite and nothing was too much trouble. There is only 5 rooms and there all all finished to a high standard, we had room 4 which was a deluxe double room with a very comfy large double bed, sky tv, air conditioning, and a lovely bathroom and shower. Considering there is a busy street outside, there is absolutely no noise in the room - it was so nice to come back to the cool, quiet room after a long day sightseeing!
There is a form in the bedroom that you fill out with your breakfast choices, you can choose what you want and at what time you want to have it. Then in the morning you simply ring the house keeper and she will bring it to you in your room. There is croissants, cereals, bread, cheese, yoghurts, tea, coffee, hot chocolate with cream - yummy! The house keeper is lovely and very friendly.
The location of the hotel is great - just across the road from the Piazza del Popolo and, if you don't mind walking, within walking distance to all the sights. We are quite young and are physically fit so we enjoyed walking across the city to sights such as the Colosseum and the Vatican, but if you aren't feeling as energetic as us then as I said before there is a metro stop right outside.
We had a lovely stay at Casa Montani and we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone of any age wanting to visit Rome. We would without a doubt stay here again if visiting Rome.

Very intimate, well run and well decorated hotel. Prices were fair, service was very personal and helpful. It feels like you're staying in someone's lovely townhouse, though the building it's located in is a bit bizarre. Location is excellent, right next door to the Piazza del Popolo. This little hotel was an excellent find.

Booked last minute in September last year to take my partner away for a birthday surprise. Could not have chosen better, the location of this place is perfect and means you can walk to all the main sightseeing places easily.
The rooms are fabulous and loved the eat in breakfast, lovely touch. No idea what glass they have in the hotel but it completely eliminates any traffic noise and its only when you open them you invite the city in.
Will definitely be going back another year and at this time of year as was not too hot and queues for the Vatican were a lot smaller than i expected.

The whole experience was pretty amazing. The Hotel was located within a larger building and had 5 rooms. Our room, number 4 was beautiful. It was very clean and had a large comfortable bed. Every morning they brought you in a trolley with breakfast on it. We stayed 6 nights but we would of been happy to stay longer. The staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. We felt like we could just keep our door open as they were so welcoming.
The location was great as well. Across the road was the Piazza del Popolo which had 3 streets running off if. Most of the sights were accessible down these roads. Via del Babuino was to the Spanish steps. Via del Corso, took you to the Colosseum. It was a long walk but it was amazing when all of a sudden you could see some of the Colosseum in front of you. The 3rd street was Via di Ripetta, off to the right of this street was st Peters and the Vatican Museum. The Trevi fountain and the Pantheon were somewhere in between these streets.
If we went back to Rome, we would definitely stay at this hotel again.
