“Classy and exquisite”
Reviewed 26 September 2008

Just returned from a special birthday trip to Rome and stayed at Casa Montani... I can honestly say it was one of the best accomodations I've ever experienced. I've been to Rome on many occasions and stayed at 5 star hotels like Boscolo etc. but this little B&B which only has five rooms beats it all! The rooms are decorated in impeccable taste, with comphy beds with Frette linen and gorgeous mirrors and flat TV screens, the bathrooms are to die for - travertine marble and power showers, Hermes products and fluffy towels. The mini bar is indecently cheap and the breakfast (included in the price) is totally delicious. The owners, Guiseppe and Charlotte, are most welcoming and always available to help (as well as Carmen, the manager) - their restaurants recommendations were most appreciated. The metro is apparently just around the corner but we didn't use it as everything is within walking distance (the Spanish steps, Trevi fountain, Piazza Navona etc.) - who wants to take the metro in Rome? It breaks my heart to write this review and share this treasure as the place is so beyond it's price and it will unevitably go up... but I feel they deserve all the success - so book now to avoid dissapointment - I wouldn't stay anywhere else next time in Rome!

My husband and I have just returned from staying at the Casa Montani . The hotel is in an excellent location for exploring Rome with all the major attractions within walking distance. The hotel itself is part of a townhouse which has been refurbished to a high standard . We stayed in one of the suites (Room 5) which was lovely. The owner was most helpful and I look forward to returning to Casa Montani very soon.

Rome was the first stop on our 22 day Honeymoon. We arrived from FCO airport at 1:00pm and was greeted by Giuseppe Montani. We were provided with bottles of water to refresh ourselves before heading out. We had the room for four nights, as shown on the main page of his website with the orante wood headboard recessed within an alcove, and found it very clean. Thoughtful decoration and amenities in the bedroom and bathroom. We were very spoiled with the shower head on the ceiling and Frette linens. Mr. Montani paid special attention to all the structural details when creating this third floor townhouse, including dual paned windows, black-out curtains, crown mouldings, decent blow-dryer, strong air conditioner and ample lighting.

The metro is just right outside the building, as well as Piazza Del Popolo, Bank of Milano and some little cafes for a quick or late night bite to eat.

We thoroughly enjoyed having the breakfast tray arrive every morning as we planned our day over pastries, cappucino, orange juice and yogurt, while sitting in robes and catching the morning news on satelite TV on the flat screen.

While all the above details really set this establishment apart from others, it was Mr. Montani and his wife's friendliness and desire to assist in any way possible. He looked up several different items for us and provided helpful maps. He even made reservations and rate confirmation for our stay in Venice, followed by an email after we left Rome.

Bottom line, if you are looking for a discreet establishment minutes away from all of Rome's beautiful attractions, but desire higher-end comforts at a reasonable rate, Casa Montani should be considered.

  • Liked — Location, Mr. Montani's attention to detail and hospitality
  • Disliked — No alarm clock in the room.

We stayed at Casa Montani for 3 days, July 18-21, 2008, during our honeymoon. We absolutely loved it. The location is perfect. We arrived in Rome by train from Venice (1st part of our trip). The metro is literally around the corner of the building. This was much appreciated considering we were logging 2 large suitcases.

The townhouse B&B is close to many nice shops and restaurants. Easy walk to Borghese park, the Spanish steps, and the Trevi fountain. We walked everywhere including the Coloseum.

The owner, Guiseppe was extremely nice, friendly and helpful. He recommended several nice, non-touristy restaurants to eat some good authentic Italian dishes, such as - Recafe, Pierluigi, and Babette.

Our room was perfect. Most comfy bed. Very clean, extremely quiet, and beautifully decorated.

The only downside was that our stay was too short. We can't imagine staying anywhere else next time we return. We loved Rome and Casa Montani.

My husband & I stayed here in April 08 for a long weekend & we loved it! The location was perfect for exploring Rome - we walked everywhere.
Our room was beautifully decorated & furnished. Breakfast is served on a trolley in your room. The owner Guiseppe was really friendly & helpful.

Would definitely stay there again.

This 'hotel' is fantastic!
Situated a stones throw from Piazza del Popolo, it is on the third floor of an elegant townhouse, opposite the metro and looking out on to the gates of the piazza and the edge of the Borghese Park.

Once you have ascended in the beautiful birdcage lift you realise that it is not a hotel in the standard sense, but is more like a townhouse to which you have been given the keys.

The hotel is stylishly decorated and the owners are attentive and helpful. We stayed in the suite which had wonderful views and a beautiful lounge area adjoining the bedroom. The room was quiet and bowls of fruit and sweets and a well stocked mini bar made for a warm welcome.

Breakfast is brought to your room, ten minutes after dialling through and arrives on a trolley to eat at your leisure. Blood orange juice, pastries, cappucino, more than we could eat.

I would reccomend this hotel wholeheartedly. I proposed to my fiancee in Rome this April and could not have wished for a more fitting place for a romantic stay.
