“Inexplicably Rude”
Reviewed 30 April 2012

My husband and I were treated horribly here twice in a week. We had reservations. The food is good and the wine great, but the service was mean spirited. Both times we arrived, the surly person who reviewed reservations put us at truly terrible tables. The first time it happened, I asked meekly if we could have one of the several other tables available. After we were reseated, our wait person told us that we would have to be finished in an hour because the table was promised to someone else. Then the manager came and told us to hurry. Then no one waited on us for 15 minutes. Then the wait person told us not to worry. Not relaxing!! But the wine was good and the food fun so we came back with another reservation later in the week. This time we were sent to the basement, while there were many tables available upstairs. We shared the basement with a delightful couple and aside from having wait staff clamber around behind our table to look for bottles of wine, we were treated nicely. Overall we felt ungraciously treated. It was our only bad experience in Rome. So disappointing.

“Luxe trattoria”
Reviewed 25 April 2012

A very good place if you reserve and of you agree to pay the price.

But at the of the day it is a very good experience ! The antiPasti are so good, and the main course are perfect.

The wine choice is a nightmare as you have a so big choice ! It is a endless carte !

To summarize it is a garanty of a very good evening... I'll come back to buy artichoke and other pattanera ham!

“Good selection of wines and a true taste and experiance of Rome”
Reviewed 21 April 2012

This restaurant/deli was highly recommended and it didn't disappoint. It is extremely advisable to book as I tried to get a table Friday evening but it was fully booked. I came back the next day for lunch and was lucky to get a table near the front door.

It is very easy to walk past the restaurant (as I did), as the restaurant has a narrow frontage with seating in the back.

I ordered a small plate of mixed salami to start followed by the spaghetti with white cream and red prawns. And a wonderful red wine from the extensive wine list. Delicious. The restaurant then proceeded to give me two free courses - a starter of goat cheese and biscotti to dip into dark chocolate at the end.

Good value and I highly recommend a nice, long session here with friends anytime you are in Rome. It's unpretentious and a memorable experience!

Lots of locals come here which adds to the atmousphere and authenticity of the food and experience.

“A taste of true Rome”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

We didn't eat in the restaurant but we did take the short 'tasting course' which as an introduction to Roman wines and food was very good. Alessandro is a wine expert and is also very knowledgeable about how local food is produced. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him and are planning to take the family back to eat in the restaurant. Apart from this deli/wine bar/trattoria they also own the wonderful bakery just across the way.

“Va bene! A winner in our book!”
Reviewed 11 April 2012

We had an amazing time eating at this restaurant. Our family of 5 ate like kings! My 3 girls (ages 13 1/2, 13 1/2 and 16) absolutely wanted to return here again and again! We had some fantastic meals in Rome, but this particular place was a winner! As we approached the restaurant, we saw all the meats and cheeses and wondered about where we were - then we were greeted and led to a table in the back...we loved being where we could see what was coming out of the kitchen and what other diners were ordering. We had amazing cheeses and meats (salumi e fomaggio, burrata, hamburger di bufala praga) and our meal of pasta (what else?) was so mouth-watering, we didn't want it to end (ravioli, tortellini, bombolotto paffuto all matriciana, tonnarello cacio e pepe) ...it did, though, with an amazing dessert chioce of 3 different chocolate mousse and tortino cioccolato gel vaniglia -- so yummy. Also, the waiter was kind, patient and so nice and attentive. He did not look down on us Americans when we asked questions and even suggested wine when we needed direction. I would add this restaurant to your list when you go to Rome for sure! Roscioli, via del giubbonari, 21-22.
