The restaurant looks nice, and the staff were fairly attentive and pleasant, with the exception of the manager who seemed to prefer attending to the local guests. If you are to go here you'd need a big wallet or a small appetite as portions are horrendously tiny, although a plentiful supply of bread was provided, dessert was nice however I feel €10 for 3 small profiteroles is a bit steep. Overall we payed €75 for two courses and a drink each, with a small complementary glass of prosseco which was a nice touch. If you want a more substantial meal there a places nearby where you can get large dishes and a bottle of nice wine for the same price.

I'm used to go to Monte Caruso irregularly but not less than once a year approximately. In general its offer and the milieu have been satisfying to me and to my friends. But the last time I had a strong, bothering impression of déjà-vu. Always the same menu, in winter and in summer, always the same obsessing presence of meat, never an innovation, an invention, an effort to create anything new. In practice the chef could virtually be replaced by an automatic machine. Execrable the policy (very widespread in Italy, however) of offering dishes separate from the plates and therefore separately priced.
Moreover, scrutinizing with attention the meat section of the menu one easily realizes that virtually all dishes are already made; one or two are made espresso, that is, on the spot. This implies a very limited commitment by the chef, who has plenty of dishes half cooked.
On the other hand, prices seemed to me significantly increased in comparison with those of my last visit: I'd say some 30%. Finally, in spite of everything, the milieu is cosy, the service not bad (very cold) and wines acceptable.
I am afraid this will be my last visit.
