Neighbourhood: Trevi
Description: A quait and historic restaurant, located between Quirinale hill and legendary Trevi Fountain, decorated with prints by Piranesi, Pinelli and Rossini to reproduce the atmosphere of Rome in '800. In the warm season you can seat outside, in one of the prettiest corners of ancient Rome. Choose among tasty roman specialities on the daily menu: an ample assortment of appetizers from the buffet, delicious pasta, fresh fish and roast meat.Does not use the pizza As dessert enjoy our home made "Tiramisù"

We were walking down the street near the Trevi Fountain when we where approached by this guy, very good spokesman that tricked us to eat in this family owned business. The menu outside looked great and he used tripadvisor as a marketing tool. He tried to persuade us with the so called prestige of this dungeon like place. We really advice you to avoid this creepy local. The service was bad (one of the waitresses was really out of space) and the food was made in a hurry and very poor with the meat. But hey, instead we got a lot of parmesan! But if you find yourself there, by mistake or not, don't forget to try the Frascati wine! It was the only good thing that kept us inside. Ciao

I was surprised by the negative reviews of this restaurant. We visited Rome in September and quickly got used to the expensive and not-so-great restaurants near tourist attractions. After seeing the Trevi Fountain, we strolled down the street and picked this restaurant for lunch because it had a nice menu with reasonably priced items and it was smaller. We asked to sit in the back, which was an intimate screened-in porch that proved to be a nice respite from the bustle of the main street.

There were four of us; three of us ordered pasta dishes, plus a grilled vegetable appetizer, and one of us ordered a seafood dish. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. The waitress was attentive and pleasant and added to a favorable experience.

We were very happy with the restaurant's food, ambiance, service and prices.

My boyfriend and I ate our first dinner in Rome at da Gasparone. We had just been to the Trevi Fountain and were walking back to our hotel when we got stopped to look at a plate of lasagne a customer at da Gasparone was eating. We decided to look at the big placard menu and the waitress (and the lasagne!) talked us into eating there. It's on a small side street called Via in Arcione that's teeming with pedestrians, so the people watching was entertaining (sit outside on the street, not inside, if you like people-watching). Even more entertaining was watching the waitress hustling people! We actually did not have the lasagne but had a great penne pasta with zucchini and gorganzola - YUMMY! The vegetable plate we ordered was disappointing (a sad sampler of cooked vegetables/potato/frittata). After hustling us into our chairs, though, the service was less than adequate. I would rate the food lower than the typical side-street restaurants, which tend to be better than the main drag touristy restaurants.
