“One among the masses...”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

It's a public square, so you don't have to go to the Vatican to see St. Peter's, and I have to say, it is awesome to be in such an impressive and filmed Piazza. How many movies have you seen this space... and now you're IN IT. Yes.... the other half of humanity that's not IN the Vatican is IN the Square, but it's still cool. Just stand there and turn in a circle.

C'mon... you know it's impressive.

It is a beautiful place to visit, though is pack with tourist is an amazing site. The statues, the architecture in general makes you feel so small and appreciate what was done so long ago, its like being back in time, walking those sacred places where the likes of Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Raphael, Bernini walked. The place is vibrant with energy that renews those who visit and for those of us Catholic is something we cannot explain only feel, if you are in Rome you must go to Saint Perer's Square you won't regret it.

“"Virtuous Vatican"”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

You need to be there to absorb in the fact that.....this is that very Virtuous place where the Pope showers his blessings on his people.
We however did not get the chance to see him or witness any of the Papal masses but the Square in itself always captivates you...and you can spend hours just sitting there admiring this wondrous landmark.
If you want to be a part of the masses you need to plan your visit accordingly after consulting the Pope's event calender @ http://www.papalaudience.org/schedule

Executive summary

Pros - Well maintained, good view, a few water fountains around*

Cons - Always crowded, huge queue for the museum

If in Rome, one should visit the Vatican city even if just for a quick look.

Top tip - Bring a water bottle, especially if it is hot and fill it up at the numerous water fountains. They are apparently safe to drink (I drank two bottles worth of "holy water" and no problems)

What a fantastic place, magical! Even more spectacular than you can imagine too. Make sure you take something to cover your legs and shoulders.
