My recent visit to Rome my daughter took me all over the city showing me many awesome new sights. I returned the favor and took her to the cupola of St. Peter’s. This was my third time and it was still just as great as the first. To get there go up front steps of St. Peter’s, turn right toward the gift shop, go past the gift shop to the back where you pay for the elevator to the main roof. On the roof go up stairs and into dome where you can see down into St. Peter’s. Follow around inside dome until you see a sign for the cupola and then go up the stairs to the top. A definite stop for any visit to St. Peter’s!!

This is another must do when in the Vatican City. We took the lift part way up then climbed the steps. It is a steep climb but the views from the top make it all worthwhile.

A fantastic view but be prepared to wait in line for a very long time if you don't arrive early. April seems to be a very busy month. We were able to do this in the middle of march in 2012 and 2016 without having any lines.

The view from here in Rome is like no other. It is just quite stunning and such a different viewscape of Rome. It is not that much of a climb but as always the views are worth it.
