Everything worked out perfectly for our four night stay at the Hotel Astoria in Pesaro. The property is immediately adjacent to the beach, and is therefore convenient to all water activities. The restaurants nearby are a short walk. The train station is a good 15 minute walk, maybe a little more, certainly not something one would do with luggage. If you arrive by train, secure a taxi for the transfer; hotel management will call a taxi for you on the way out. The family who runs the place is kind, concerned and very enthusiastic that the guests have a good time. We were there for the ferragosto feast, and that was indeed a very special spread. One would do well to arrange a vacation around that feast alone. The rooms were clean and comfortable. True, there is no air conditioning, but with the ceiling fan in each room, and the sea nearby, there was no night that I was there in August that was in the least bit uncomfortable. If attending the Rossini Opera Festival, note that the bus to pick up theatregoers to the Adriatic Arena is less than a block away.
