Highly recommended. I had a PERFECT stay at Albergo Italia. The room was quiet - on an alley just next to the Palazzo Ducale (if I had longer arms, I could reach out in touch it!). The hotel is located just beyond the convenient Piazza Repubblica and is accessible to all hot points in Urbino (Raffaelo's house, restaurants, the Palazzo, etc.). The breakfast staff and desk staff were both incredible - friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. A great find in Urbino.

Room Tip: I had great luck. A E 40 room, large double bed along the Ducale Palace side. Wonderful.

Albergo Italia is clean, modern and I would also point out that it's well located. This might seem a moot point in Urbino, which is really quite a small town, but it is also built on a hillside. If you go up in the escalator (50c per person) in the corner of Borgo Metacale, you will find the hotel 50 yards on your left - and it's a flat walk. A flat walk is a rare luxury in Urbino, especially if you're dragging luggage.

I expect there are other places with more 'character' but everything worked and the staff were friendly and efficient. The breakfast was decent for an Italian hotel. Fresh pastries and fresh coffee, plus the usual museli + sugary fruit juice options.

One slight criticism is that I found my mattress to be quite firm. Brilliant for me because I suffer from a bad back, but perhaps not ideal for everyone.

I stayed at this hotel for 10 days. The location is very good, right in the centre of the old town. Rooms are good, enough space and everything is in perfect shape (recently redecorated?).
Breakfast is more than fine measuring by what I'm used to in Italian hotels. There's bread, cheese, ham, yoghurts and several kinds of sweet pastry, muesli, fruit and so on.
Staf is very friendly and helpful.
The hotel isn't expensive and minibar and wifi (1 euro for the entire stay of 10 days) is also cheap.
2 Minor negative points/warnings: if you're a light sleeper, ask for a room at the back because street in front of the hotel (via Garibaldi) can be very noisy at night in the weekends. Also the wifi-connection in my room was very poor, but I was at the top floor and far end of the hallway. When I took my laptop down the hall reception was much better, so if you want to use the internet a lot, ask for a room nearer to the heart of the hotel.

Perfect location, just steps away from a great plaza, very kind staff, nice breakfast. Parking is the easiest in the underground parking lot at the bus station (10 euro until 8 a.m., and then 1 euro per hour, although I arrived at 9.20 and did not have to pay the extra charge:-). Wifi is only 1 euro for the whole stay. For dinner, I highly recommend Trattoria del Leone, just couple steps from the hotel - great food with nice athomosphere at friendly prices, you can't beat it!

It's worth paying a little extra to be based within the city walls of Urbino, and this modern hotel with magnificent views is just perfect.

Room Tip: The superior rooms have fantastic views and are worth the extra money.
