This is indeed one of the best meals I've had in a restaurant. The restaurant is a single simple and stylish room. The service was first rate - our Italian is atrocious and the waiter graciously took the time to translate the entire menu. But it is the food that is most memorable of all.
One of the starters was translated as 'crude meat' - we took a chance and were served a pat of raw beef - we hadn't eaten raw beef before but were more than happy to try this delicately flavoured meat served with a delicious salad. Our other stater - fried fish balls - was tasty but slightly less impressive. The show stopper was the main course - oxtail in a tomato based stew - utterly delicious, the meat was falling off the bone and the flavours were melt in the mouth. A side dish of long green chicory leaves cooked with garlic and a little hot spice was also something special. A simple dessert of mascarpone wrapped up a pretty fabulous evening. A bill of 80 euro for 3 courses for 2 and a bottle of wine seemed more than reasonable.
