We stayed in the junior suite, beautiful and spacious room but.. the bathroom, even if they claim it to be ensuite, is not! It's outside the room, just on the right. This was not a problem but it would have been nice to know before booking!
Sadly breakfast was not as expected, we had to do everything, looking for food around the kitchen! (It was 8.45, not 5 am!) In the end we only had milk (from an open bottle found in the fridge) with cereals, nothing more, not even coffee. (Maybe we didn't deserve it because we got a last minute discout offer?)
From what I could see most of the rooms overlook the street, this means drunk people screaming all night long, cars, doors slamming etc, making it impossible to sleep at night.

One last complain, when we left, at 9.45, there still was nobody around and has to leave the keys on the table. Really didn't appreciate this.

Caring a bit more about the details would make this place amazing, it has an incredible potential (very central location and beautiful furnitures).

Thank you for choosing Le Stanze del Carro and sharing your detailed opinion about it. It is very useful for other travelers. Thank you for appreciating the position of the B&B, design and the furniture
We apologize for not being for the breakfast on time. It might happen a misunderstanding with the schedule or kind of an emergency in the morning. We are so sorry for that and we really hope it will not happen again in the future. We will be very glad to host you again and to do our best!

The surprising, best part of this bed and breakfast was the lovely manager (many thanks, Olga!) who took care of us and helped with every part of our first visit to Bologna. The owner and the manager went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and well taken care of. Breakfast is delicious, and food keeps coming until you are more than full! The downstairs rooms are decorated by the owner, an antiques and collectables dealer, in an eclectic but comfortable style.

Room Tip: The rooms upstairs are plain and simple, but have air conditioning, a kitchen and en suite bathroom...

Bologna is an under-visited city of surprising delights, and Le Stanze del Carro is one of them, tucked away in a picturesque corner of the old ghetto just under the iconic Due Torri. We got one of the two apartments (the studio), and it worked wonderfully - surprisingly light-filled (no mean feat in a city with those cute, narrow little streets), albeit full of alarming angles (which is typical of Italian attic apartments and which I prefer to think of as "charming"). The apartment was very clean and had all the amenities one could ask for (including actually fast wifi; nothing to sneeze at in my experience of Italian hotels!). If you're considering going through an agency to find an apartment for a week or so, I suggest you try this B&B first; not only do you get the convenience and privacy of a very centrally-located apartment at a much lower price, but you also get the considerable expertise of Olga and Caterina, the managers, who can suggest places to eat, things to do, book taxis, and generally make your stay easier and more comfortable. Laid-back, friendly, convenient, and highly recommended; I'll definitely be back.

What a lovely place - basically feels like your own appartment! Very friendly reception and helpful advice and very clean room/bathroom. The location is superb - 5 minutes form the main square. This is a quirky, low-profile little gem of a place and suited our needs perfectly!

The lady running the b&b was so lovely and welcoming, the room was comfortable with more amenities than you,d expect for such a reasonable price. We found the location peaceful and relaxing despife the town being home too a large univedsity. We had a lovely breakfast and again greeted in the morning by the lovely lady running it. Breakfast in the courtyard was idealic and again for the price was more enjoyable ghan expected with fresh fruit pastries and cereals.. Being a little unorganised we were late checking out however the lady was still amazingly accomodating letting us relax in the courtyard and use anher empty guestroom to stor our cases as we had a late flight. I would definitely reccomend this for a short relaxing stay in bologna.. No complaints.

I really don’t know where to start with this review. We were a big group and we booked 4 different rooms very well in advance, paying a deposit to secure our stay. One friend, who is local to Bologna, also went and inspected the property before we made our booking and the person who runs the B&B ensured there would be no problem accommodating all of us. When we checked in it turned out that 2 beds were missing. We were also told that breakfast was not included in the price, despite having agreed on this in several emails, and that anyway there wouldn’t be enough room for everybody to have breakfast at the same time. We were therefore asked to have breakfast somewhere else. I stayed in a triple room on the 1st floor (Adami), which does not have an en suite bathroom but an external one that is reached via a corridor and the breakfast room. After I had my shower in the morning I emerged from the bathroom just to find a couple having breakfast in the breakfast room. Not ideal for privacy. After we checked in, we went out to explore Bologna, and upon our return some of the staff had clearly been into our room as there were new blankets on the beds (one of which had a large, unidentified stain on it) and items such as a pair of glasses, a receipt, and a note were left behind in our room. This is not professional. But the real outrage was the state in which the studio and the flat on the 2nd floor were left. The “surprises” included: a pan full of rotten fruit (peaches, plums, etc.), open packets of biscuits, a nearly empty marmalade jar left on the kitchen top, an open bottle of milk in the fridge, and, last but not least, a couple of cockroaches in the bathroom. When we checked out we refused to pay the full amount we initially agreed on because of all these reasons - including the fact that 2 people had to sleep on a mattress on the floor to make up for the lack of beds - and the poor organisation and lack of communication among the various staff members.

Be aware that this structure is located in the heart of the University district in Bologna, and it does get very noisy during the night, especially at weekends (we barely slept due to the presence of drunken loud people under our window in the middle of the night).

The property itself is nice and conveniently located for all the amenities in Bologna, but it’s very clear that the owners have bitten more than they can chew here! Stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: The Adami room has a "private" bathroom off the breakfast room

We are a small bed and breakfast and our rooms are supposed to be only for families and couples, not for large groups. For the group of ladies we decided to make an acception.

We have not had any experience hosting such a large group of people, especially because at the beginning only 13 people were supposed to be.

We apologized for all the inconveniences and we learned many things from our mistakes.
At first we showed all our 5 rooms to a local friend who liked all of them, even one room with private external bathroom. Her friends wanted to spend as less as possible, so they decided to book only 4 rooms and they stay on a "compact formula", telling us that they will use the room only like a "recovery" and they would spend the entire time visiting the city.

Then troubles happened because the number of guests changed continuously, the last require was for 17 PEOPLE.
We told them many times that we are a small structure and it will be really uncomfortable for them to stay here. We also recommended them to stay in other b&b just across the road from us but they insisted to let them stay all together because it was really important for them.

They claimed many times that they were really flexible and easygoing people and that they would have no problem to share a double bed in 3 people.
Moreover the price per person was very affordable for such a central location.
We arranged few beds, adding some mattress on the floor, only because we don't have so many beds.

They asked us to use the kitchen of one of the apartments to have a dinner all together + the local friend; we immediately told them that it was a quite foolish idea because of the lack of space (18 people!). It was not possible in the Studio apartment. It is not made for the parties. We recommend them a nice place in the center where they could bring their own food and pay only for drinks. The local friend agreed that it was a good idea.
They ignored our suggestion and they had their party in that small apartment and created some noise. Unfortunately the housekeeper forgot to remove food from the previous guests. (We fired him the following week because he was not enough accurate, and now we have a better cleaning service). We apologize a lot for his mistake.

The group of ladies was really noisy and many people in our condominium claimed that they spoke in a loud voice. We understand that a group of friends likes to chat and joke but they weren't respectful.
About breakfast it was included only for the first reservation of 13 people, we don't really have space for such a large group of people, so we made a little discount for them and asked them to have breakfast in the bar nearby.

Besides we were worried that the other 2 guests (staying in the room they didn't book) could complain of sharing with this noisy group the breakfast room and terrace.
We have been always available and helpful with them. For example we let them leave their luggage before the check-in time and later than the check-out time.

We apologize again for our mistakes. We believe we made a great discount for the group. And we did not expect such an angry feedback and we thought that everything was ok at the end.
It was really good lesson for us. We do not accept groups of more then 10 people anymore. If you, girls, want to come with your partners or small group of friends or relatives, you are always welcome!

The Hotel was very nice. The location was excellent. The room was very clean. The staff were quite friendly. The only problem was the private bathroom near my room. I went to the Bathroom around midnight, and a "she" was using my toilet. I walked in on her and it caused some embarrassment!!!! (as you might imagine) me being a "he"

Thank you for the comments.
When we do check in, we always explain where bathrooms for each room are located. There is only one room we have with private external bathroom. It is written that it is private and reserved for that room. Possibly other guest had mistaken and probably had not read in the dark at midnight that the bathroom is private. We apologize for this mistake and for the inconvinience it caused for you.

We try to lock that bathroom that only guests who has keys from the proper room can use it.

Thank you again for your comments and attention. Critic is always a progress!
