From the moment we arrived at the Grand Hotel Majestic gia Bagliono in Bologna, we experienced the ambience of a grand hotel.
We had pre-booked direct with the hotel and got the Classic doubleroom, so nicely decorated and furnished and the bed was heaven.
Housekeeping excellent.
The breakfast included was five star and what a choice we had including fresh fruit juices and the staff was very attentive and pleasant.
The head concierge Mr. Massimo Epicoco made sure our stay became unforgetable with his service and attention including arranging limousine driver & car for our tour to Modena on 20.08. and Repubblica di San Marino on 21.08.
If ever we go back to the wonderful town of Bologna we will stay at Grand Hotel Majestic Gia Baglioni.
Thank you again to all staff and a reverderci.

Great hotel and location. Great room and excellent buffet breakfast. Wonderful staff and very helpful with recommendations. Would definitely recommend staying here. Only drawback is limited shopping nearby and stores do not stay open late at night.

Bologna was our second stop on our two week adventure in Italy. We splurged on this hotel as it was the middle of our holiday and so highly recommended. I am so glad we did.

Check in was a breeze and a welcomed tour of the hotel and our room upon arrival. It truly is a grand dame of the hotels in Bologna. Our room was a superior - no view to speak of but we were rarely in our room. There are so many beautiful terraces and spaces in the hotel to just relax and take it all in. The front desk staff, for the most part were very helpful and accomodating. We had no language problems as mostly everyone spoke english.

Our room was beautiful and grand right down to the marble bathroom. Plenty of hot water - although the shower side faucets are awkward. Great AC during the hot August days. Wifi in the room is very very slow and often non existant. But once you're on, you're on.

Breakfast was awesome as well as the small outside area to dine. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant twice - as it was excellent! Make sure you have the lasagna! Special shout out to Shanti and Max! They both are accomodating and provide some of the best service that we've experienced! Max is very proficient with wines, assisting us with selecting great parings for our dinner.

Dont' forget to check out the Roman street at the bottom floor of the hotel. It was a wonderful experience and we have made new friends as a result of our stay.

The Hotel is centrally located and walking distance to anything you will need. The oldest Bologna market is two blocks away - the oldest University in the world is also within walking distance. The street is closed to vehicles on the weekend. So make sure if you're renting a vehicle the hotel is aware. There isn't a need for a vehicle at all.

The walls are very thick - extremely quiet in your room - can't hear anything outside or in the hallway. The bed was a little on the hard side and does have two twin mattresses pushed together. Was one of the better that we experienced in Italy.

We highly recommend the Grand Hotel Majestic Gia Baglioni - make sure you ask for Max and Shanti in the Restaurant and hotel bar!

We will go back!

We visited this hotel about two years ago. I wrote a review asking if this was the best hotel on the planet and saying it was in there with a fighting chance. Now my wife and I have no doubts. O.K., we've not visited all the hotels on the planet. But we have stayed at some of the very best hotels in Europe and the US. None of them quite comes up to this one for a combination of understated elegance, sheer luxury and intimacy. It's like coming home, except to a far better home than most of us are likely to have. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, the service is impeccable, the atmosphere is quiet, warm and friendly, and we had the rare, in fact unique, experience, of having absolutely nothing about which to quibble. Since the hotel is in the underrated but wonderful city of Bologna, the hotel is also amazing value: you'd have to pay at least twice as much to stay in a hotel that even approaches this quality in London, Paris or Rome. Go there, stay there, it's the closest thing to perfection you'll find in a hotel.

Nice classic hotel and well kept. Very nice rooms, we were in junior suite on fourth floor with two doors to balcony overlooking the street with view of piazza maggiore. Very attentive staff. Outstanding breakfast. Pricy as it goes with these grand dames of hotels, but worth every penny. On a fantastic location. Highly recommended.

I spent 3 nights during August 2014 at this hotel and it was one of my best experiences ever. All of the staff I met were extremely friendly and professional. The restaurant is worth a special mention with staff more than willing to meet any needs. Having mentioned to the concierge that two friends had an anniversary the restaurant prepared a special and discrete surprise for them. The food was wonderful too.

The rooms are lovely and luxurious - blending new with classical taste very nicely indeed. The cocktail bar is fun - check out the photos of some of their famous visitors. I must also say that the breakfast was probably the best I've ever seen in a hotel and the young woman on duty was extremely friendly, always smiling and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely return to this hotel again. Oh and by the way, you should walk down from your floor to the ground floor via the beautiful wide staircase - it'll make you feel like a king or queen. Don't hesitate to choose this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

3 nights in July with my wife.
We had booked a junior suite.
On the positive side the room included a balcony with some view over Bologna rooftops. The air conditioning is very effective. Nice bathroom with good seperate shower. As a nice touch we were welcomed to the room with complimentary sparkling wine and fruit.
On the negative side the room could do with an update of audio/video. Due to the choice of colors for walls, floors and furniture combined with only two quite small windows/doors to the balcony the room was very dark.
The bed however was very good.
The hotel In general is a beautiful old hotel which is well kept.
The service levels are fine but we were not overly impressed.
Have stayed in a number of deluxe hotels both in Europe and the US an in comparison prices at Grand Hotel Majestic Gia Baglioni are very high and in my opinion a lot too high compared to the product delivered.
Would we stay again? Since the choice in deluxe hotels in Bologna is very limited maybe – but it would have to be at a more attractive rate.
