The room was comfortable, however there was no temperature setting for the air conditioning in the room, which would be useful in the warmer summer months.

The room was clean and the staff were friendly and the breakfast was very good.

The hotel was conveniently placed as it is about a ten/ fifteen minute walk from the Piazza Maggiore and the two towers and a twenty minute walk from the train station.

Overall, for the price we paid for a room it was very reasonable and a comfortable stay.

I cannot urge you enough to stay away from this hotel.

I was in an accident during my vacation in Italy and broke my leg and arm. My husband and I had to rearrange our trip to accommodate my temporary handicap. We were frantically looking for a hotel that would be wheelchair accessible and handicap friendly and we were referred to Hotel Re Enzo by “Welcome Bologna.” (We have since notified Welcome Bologna of the hotel’s problems...hopefully they will take this hotel off of their recommendation list!) We were thrilled to find they had a handicap accessible room available for us for the dates we needed (June 4-June 10 2018)

Upon our arrival, we were surprised to find the elevator did not accommodate a wheelchair (without folding the wheelchair up).

Worst of all was the room, which was supposed to be non-smoking. It REEKED of cigarette smoke. The manager, who had showed us to our room apologized and said one person had smoked one cigarette in the room earlier in the day. They tried spray the room to get rid of the smell they also brought up some deodorizer—-NOTHING worked! The room was saturated in smoke stink...It was unbearable.

The room itself was so small that my wheelchair barely fit inside. To say that this was a handicapped accessible room is shocking.

Furthermore, everything in this hotel is woefully out of date. Shabby (NOT chic!) dirty, smelly and just plain downtrodden.

The breakfast, which we paid extra for, was laughable. The food was not fresh, bread was stale, pastries were old, and when we asked for a third cup of coffee we were told that we had “reached our two cup maximum” and couldn’t have more! When we complained to the front desk and asked them to take the breakfast off our bill, we were met with an argument. Unbelievable!

After two days (one night) we couldn’t take it anymore—we found a nice, clean place to stay that actually was handicap accessible and actually was non-smoking. We told the front desk that we needed to check out early. The manager refused to let us check out and argued with my husband about it, too ! He was adamant that we would have to pay for the entire 6 night stay, even though we couldn’t comfortably get to our room, stay in our room once we were there, or BREATHE in our room! They charged us for 6 nights and were complete A-holes about it, too!

Bologna is a beautiful city and there are hundreds of hotels available in every price range. Do yourself a favor and book ANYWHERE but here!

Room tip: Non-smokers BEWARE!

Hotel is above standard for 3 stars hotel. It's very clean.
Rooms are clean, climatised, beds are good to sleep on, lot of space.
Nice neighbourhood, close to center (10 min. walk), lot of shops, bars, restaurants around.
Breakfast is good, fresh and lot of choices what to eat.
Most precious are peoples working in it. So kind, warm, professional and with everlasting smile and wish to help. Really you can feel like at home.
Staying here for 17 days and will leave soon. For sure i will be back!

Room tip: East (front) side rooms are in shade during a day.

I stayed 2 nights in April as we came to visit the exhibition. We definitely overpaid for what we received but maybe it was because of expo.

There are some signs that building is used to be nice but you can only tell that from natural stone tiles on the floor and walls at reception and stairs. Overall hotel is out of date and needs refurbishment.

You will be awakened by flushed water from the above rooms, or sounds from nearby room as soundproofing is rubbish.

Room was small but surprisingly it was enough wardrobe storage and hangers.
Bed was ok but, bedding was so so as we found a few hairs definitely not ours !
Bathroom was small, shower cubicle is very-very small. Hair dryer was rubbish.
You can’t have iron at room. There is an option to go downstairs where ironing board is set with iron ( in our case it was meeting room ). Iron was rubbish anyway.
Air con didn’t work but maybe it was still not summer time for locals lol.

Breakfast was ok but there were only 2 hot options - scrambled eggs and bacon.
Location is good as 10-15 min walk to central city. It’s 15 drive to airport too.

Will I be back ? For what we paid (€195/night) - NEVER.

Have to say i was a bit scared after reading all the comments here about the hotel. We had a large room with 3 beds at the 4 th floor. The location is perfect( right next to several bars and 15 min walk to the city center), staff helpful, nice lobby downstairs, good breakfast ( each morning if a product finished it was replaced instantly ), comfortable beds. Very small bathrooms with even smaller showers was the only downfall. Overall- good hotel to stay near the city center.

Dear "Alex F,
many thanks for your review that I will share with my Staff.
Think that we are one of the few italian hotels that doesn't "buy" any comments; this means to have also negative one. Important is that you find a good service and welcome. With the best regards.
