“Superb hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2012

Location - couldn't be bettered. In a quiet little semi-pedestrianised area directly off Piazza Maggiore, surrounded by historic buildings, with public benches to sit on outside the hotel, and shops, cafes and restaurants around. The train station is within walking distance and taxis can pull up right outside the hotel.

Staff- extremely helpful and friendly.

Room - Lovely. Cozy yet with impressive, expensive looking stylish furnishings, gorgeously comfy bed, minibar, flatscreen TV & aircon. Great marble bathroom with powerful shower, nice toiletries and slippers.

Breakfast - probably one of the best I have ever had in an Italian hotel. The breakfast room is beautiful - light, airy, comfortable and feels quite luxurious. Breakfast was laid out on sparking dishes and glassware as if Vogue were coming in for an interiors shoot. The food was prepared and arranged artfully with great attention to detail. My highlights were fresh fruit & yogurt, eggs, some artful looking toast topped with a savory spread, capers and cherry tomatoes, and (sadly I couldn't eat any more but they looked great - mini tarts and pastries, very fancy, decorated and canape looking). Pretty sumptuous start to the day

A great hotel at a reasonable price - I will in future look out for Art Hotels if they are all as good as this one.

Art Hotel Orlogio is a lovely hotel, perfectly located and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. For our family of five, we had two adjoining rooms that were perfect -- very clean, updated, good use of space.
The staff was extremely helpful and nice. We left our camera in our rental car. We don't speak Italian and we credit the hotel staff with helping us get our camera back. They contacted the rental company for us, helped to follow up to make sure the camera was located and facilitated having it shipped safely back home for us. INCREDIBLE.
Breakfast is included and is delicious with more wonderful staff making real italian lattes! I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: For families, the hotel has adjoining rooms that have a small but very funcitonal living space betwe...

This hotel is ideally located right next to the Piazza Maggiore and very close to a number of cafes, restaurants, and bars. Despite its proximity to the piazza, it's very quiet. The hotel staff are very courteous and helpful - indeed we received the best welcoming literature to Bologna of any of the four cities we have visited this trip - history, sites, and restaurants ( go to Cesari's - you won't be disappointed with the atmosphere, meal, or service). On the downside, while the bathroom was size able with good water pressure, our room was a tad small with limited storage space - you might want to ask for as big as room possible. Also, room service in AM was a little dodgy - we had to call down twice to enquire about the request we had made the night before. That said, they were very responsive after ther call. On balance, good hotel, location and service.

Perfect location at a 3 star price with excellent friendly staff. Its a stylish Art hotel, filled with character and fine decor. It is right on the main Piazza (Maggiore), and is a car free, pedestrian recess. We were overlooking the Piazza but were untroubled by noise.
Will recommend it willingly. No pool or restaurant, but breakfast was very good.

Room Tip: We were upgraded from a deluxe double to Suite Piazza Maggiore, which was delightful. No idea about...

This is an excellent hotel right in the centre of Bologna with staff who are extremely helpful. On arrival we were upgraded to a suite which was much appreciated. The hotel is so close to Piazza Maggiore that it is almost in it and yet we experienced no noise at night. Excellent selection at breakfast. A very nice lounge and complimentary use of the PC and printer much appreciated.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. We really liked Bologna, and youre just off the main square here. It is a strange set up, as the reception desk is on the ground floor level, and you have to go upstairs to the first floor for the sitting area and breakfast room. The lift is on the first floor, and we did see other guests trying to negotiate suitcases up and down that first flight of stairs.
The room was a little tired but fine, and we had a view to the front, which was nice. Breakfast was nothing special, but fine for what you would expect. The hotel was clean and seemed efficiently run. At reception they recommended a restaurant, which was really nice.
The biggest negative is the aircon would not go lower than 22 degrees, which is too hot for me to sleep comfortably.
We would certainly return to Bologna, but probably stay elsewhere.

This hotel has a great location, just off the Piazza Maggiore in the center of Bologna. The hotel has a classical Italian flavor, with an interior gold color motif. The lobby may put you off, being quite small, with no chairs for waiting or relaxing. It's a bit funky, too, because the ground floor is called "minus-one", and the elevator starts one level above on floor zero. (Our room was on level 2, which is the 4th floor by US standards.) If lugging your suitcases up a full flight of stairs is an issue, you have to use the bellman, or this hotel may not be for you. The desk clerk and bellman were friendly, welcoming, and efficient.

Our room was on the small side, but nicely furnished and comfy. It is OK for 2 people, but is too small for a rollaway bed. The bed was great, firm, and the furniture was all in very good condition. The bathroom is all marble: floor, tub-shower, and sink. It is tight, but adequate for one person. In general the quality is somewhat above a standard 3 star hotel in Europe, and is reasonably priced. The breakfast room is large and pleasant, and the breakfast was nicely displayed on a large table in the center of the room, with a small side counter for the cold meats and juices. It is quite adequate, but there were no hot items available.

The room air-conditioning is problematic. It was warm and humid when we visited Bologna, and we hoped to cool down in the room. But, the thermostat will not go lower than 22 C, 72 F, and when we asked, the desk clerk said that they could not change it. Also, when you leave your room, the A/C is shut off, so you always return to a warm room. If this is an issue for you, better look for another hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side which face the main piazza, can be noisy well past midnight in summer. Outsi...
