“What a fabulous place!”
Reviewed 21 June 2013

I loved this place! I stayed in a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen for 3 nights and it was spacious and comfortable, clean and close to everything. However, the best part was the service from Franco... he is there to meet you, helps with your luggage then gives you some insight into the city and where you should see and visit (and even recommends some restaurants in a city full of great places to dine).

It was VERY hot when I arrived in Bologna and the air conditioning was such a welcome relief. Another great feature of staying here is its proximity to everything.... the sights of the city, restaurants, a supermarket (if you stay in an apartment) and shopping (if you want).
I could not recommend this place highly enough to anyone who visits Bologna... it is not 5 star but it is welcoming, comfortable, convienient and most of all... friendly and accomodating. If I could change one thing it would be the towels... they really need updating or bring your own.

But....I would love to go back one day! Thank you !!

Room Tip: Staying in a one bedroom place is great... but I don't know what the hotel rooms are like.

Our apartment number was 6. The room was on the first floor. There is a lift but it is small, maybe for two people. On our arrival the person at the desk carried our luggage up, and down on departure. He was friendly and helpful. The apartment is on a quiet street without a lot of foot or car traffic and was generally quiet during the day and night.

The kitchen was well equipped, with coffee machine and dishwasher. There were pots and pans to cook a meal, plus dishes and cutlery to eat your meal. A good sized dining table that seats four people.

The lounge is part of the dining area with two large sofas. There was plenty of natural light in all the rooms during the day. All the rooms are large and comfortable.

The bedroom had large wardrobes and plenty drawers to stow away luggage. The bed was comfortable. Two singles joined together as one. The TV was in the bedroom, a small flat screen with a DVD player connected. Our room also had a babies cot for our 4 month old. It was supplied with linen.

The bathroom was large and had a front load washing machine. A clothes rack to dry your clothes on would have been helpful. We used the large towel rack, which in winter would have been heated.

The free wifi worked well from the kitchen dining area, but wasn't usable from the bedroom.

Franco is a fantastic host, the apartment is spacious, clean and tidy with everything you need. We arrived early in the morning and Franco had our room ready for us. The apartment could not be in a better position for everything in Bologna. The perfect city break. We will definitely return and would stay at Franco's apartment. Franco spoke good English and was very helpful with lots of great recommendations for places to see and do etc.

Room Tip: Room 6 is great with a fabulous big window looking into a courtyard

Residenza Ariosto was a great find - right in the centre of town, very clean and modern and Franco takes good care of you! The kitchen is kitted out if you fancy cooking up some fresh tortelloni yourself for dinner. All you could want!

Once more in Bologna and since the hotel that we usually stay had pretty high rates for the dates that we were interested, we tried Ariosto.

Excellent choice! Residenza Ariosto is located in the center of Bologna. The studio that they accommodated us was more than spacious with a huge bathroom. Much bigger than any other studio I’ve ever stayed in. They cleaned the rooms daily. Franko, was absolutely wonderful! He helped us with the luggage (the apartments are on the first floor and there is an elevator) and with anything else we asked him. The price was unbeatable! Especially in Bologna is not possible to have that quality of accommodation for not more than 54 Euros per night. Best value for money I’ve ever seen! We will be back!

Apartament was huge and spacious. Fully furnished with big kitchen. You have there fridge, microwave, oven, plates and other. Hotel is close to Piazza Maggiore where you can eat breakfast outside and some small shops where you can buy wine and food. Service was perfect and very nice. The way from railway station to Residenza Ariosto is simple. I recommend you this with a clear conscience. Price is really good.

The apartments were walking distance from the train station, the main street and all of the major sites. Our studio apartment was spacious and well equipped with all the amenities and included a washing machine which was a definite plus. The view looked out onto the street which was noisy and was right above a restaurant (excellent food by the way) but once the windows are closed it shuts the noise out. A/C, toiletries, iron and portable hanger were available but the towels were extremely hard and rough....other than that our stay was great and for $50 euros a night it was unbeatable.
