“Charming boutique hotel”

Everything about this hotel felt effortless. Last-minute booking, early check-in, room change (due to my own last-minute additional night request). Everyone at the front desk was genuinely warm, friendly and helpful. Great little courtyard. Great cappuccinos. A gem of a hotel in a beautiful city. I hope to return!

We stayed here for 6 days while visiting our daughter who was studying in Bologna.
Our first room, though lovely and spacious, faced the street. Since it was warm, we slept with the windows open. Although it is a lightly trafficked, the accoustics from the occasional cab or car disturbed us. (would not be a problem if you like to sleep with A/C on and windows closed). We were more to an interior room that looked out into the lovely garden. The breakfast room is in the midst of the garden and is a mini paradise. Breakfast itself was superb and the wait staff beyond accomodating.

We borrowed bikes one day and rode outside of the city.

A very memorable stay!

Room Tip: ask for interior room facing garden unless you know you will sleep with the windows closed.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was first class. It is positioned well and is close to some lovely restaurants. It is within easy walking distance of the town centre with all the restaurants and shops. We had a lovely room in an small annexe building. The hotel is an unusual shape which is quaint. Our room was relatively small but was very clean and had a lovely balcony to sit on. We really enjoyed our stay here. Breakfast is lovely and the staff were very efficient and friendly.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Excellent service, intimate setting, away from the noise and bustle of the center (which is only 8-10 min walk). Roberto the owner is down to earth, friendly and charming. Great staff (Sergio). Super breakfast to get you going in the morning and Romeo the white cat is the the master:). Highly recommend this hotel in Bologona.

I think you always have a choice when looking for reasonably priced city hotel accommodation: a modern lodge-type establishment or an older building. This was the latter, rooms in the old building on the street, rooms off the garden and also some at the back of the garden in another old building. In the centre of the garden was the breakfast room/bar. That's why I've labelled it quirky, it all added to the unique experience. My room was at the front overlooking the street, noisy on Saturday night with the window open but fine when I put the air-con on and closed the window, and OK every other night with the window open. The room had everything I needed: clean, comfortable, reasonable size, enough drawer/hanging space and a good bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, as was the bar service. It is convenient for the city centre, but a taxi ride for the station at the opposite edge of the city. The best thing about the hotel was the friendliness and helpfulness of the people. I would happily go back there next time I visit Bologna.

Room Tip: Rooms off the garden will be quieter for light sleepers.

We returned to San Mamolo on our recent trip to Italy and were pleased to find it as wonderful as the last time! Friendly staff, comfortable, clean rooms and great breakfast. They have new memory foam pillows which I was a bit unsure of, but were great! One of those places you wish you could return to for the night no matter where in Italy you were visiting. We look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: If you like to sleep in, ask to stay on the second floor and/or away from the breakfast area. Peopl...

This hotel has great character, lovely staff, delicious breakfast, large quiet rooms and a super location that is a 10 minute walk to the city center. Caring, personable staff all spoke English and had great recommendations of things to do and places to eat. Will be back!!
