“central location, fabulous views”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

This hotel really lives up to its name, the location is as central as you could wish for. We stayed here for two nights and would definitely recommend this hotel to others. The airport shuttle stops just around the corner, and the city highlights are just a few steps away. Breakfast was actually pretty good for Italian standards. The room and the bathroom were clean and comfortable. Decoration was a bit old fashioned, but in my opinion this was one of the charms of this hotel. The staff are trying their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible and are very friendly, even if you don’t speak Italian. The hotel is located on the third floor, so press number three in the elevator.

Room Tip: room number 18 has fabulous views

A few meters from the city center in Piazza Maggiore, in the heart of the shopping districts. Small boutique hotel, rated 2 starts but really at least three. Rooms recently renovated, simple but functional and very clean. Staff is more than helpful and courteous and professional. Breakfast is copious and with a lot of choices including a varieties of local pastries and sandwiches. I was born in Bologna but do not have a residence there any more and for all my visits to the city I always stay at Albergo Centrale.

Room Tip: Ask for a view on the twin towqers and city roofs!

As previous reviewer said, a two star, that should be a three star. A good quick test of how good a small hotel is, is the size of the bar of soap they provide. Small and mean, or ample ? This hotel meets the test .
Plus points: 1. Large rooms, double bed, even when booked as single.
2. Good breakfast, in pleasant large room.
3. Very central, close to old town........though 18 mins walk from train station.
4. Staff more than willing to assist.
5. Some cakes and rolls left over from breakfast, left on bar to help themselves, was a nice touch !

Negatives; 1. I had persistent problems with wi-fi connection in room (though hotel did show a willingness to address the problem).
2. If you pay for (say) 3 days wi-fi, the connection ceases at midnight on the second day. Check out is 12 hours later......so you pay for a half-days that you don't get.
3. No sink in rooms without showers (shower was 10 yds down corridor).

Room Tip: Rooms at front overlook busy street....though NOTE it's traffic free Sat and Sun night. If you...

This hotel is easy to find: signed from the Main Street and close to where the airport bus stops before it gets to the main station. We arrived quite late but the reception advised us of places to eat nearby. The room was large and comfortable. There was traffic noise but once we'd switched on the air con on and closed the window it was fine. The bathroom was adequate and the breakfast was varied and delicious. I had prunes, yogurt, savoury rolls and a Danish pastry. You could be well set up for the day! Nice coffee too. Would recommend this hotel.

Stayed in a triple room with my teenagers. We had a corner room with roof top views. This is a friendly and functional hotel, superbly located. Quite a lot of interesting breakfast items, I would definitely stay here again. Only one hour of free WiFi though, which was a trial for the kids!

Positives:
-Doesn't get more central than this
-Very good value for money
-Clean large room with large windows that open into the street
-Feels very secure (large locked door and 3rd floor)
-Polite reception staff
-Really good breakfast, a large variety of fresh local pastry and good coffee. Was well appreciated.
-All facilities in room (safe, minibar, TV etc)

Improvement points:
-Noise levels due to thin walls
-Internet (wi-fi) is provided via a weird arrangement that involves a printed coupon with a code that gives 20 minutes of internet. You then need another coupon for more internet. Not convenient at all.
-Bathroom in my room was set upon a fake plaster floor which made everything (toilet, sink etc) wobble
-Not the most comfortable bed
