“two weeks in december”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2013

As a senior couple traveling with a lady friend (she stayed at the hotel only one week), we found the Touring Hotel very adequate. Her room was extremely nice and spacious, with a wonderful balcony (admittedly best during spring or summer), ours quite comfortable, even if the furniture was lacking in drawers. As we were saying in Bologna for two weeks, this was a slight inconvenience. The hotel is marvelously located, in a very quiet street, but it is strategically placed, with all the tourist destinations - market, main shops, museums, monuments and churches - within short walking distance. Everything seems to be just a few minutes away. If I got up in the morning with a little extra time before my wife or our friend were ready, I could walk for two minutes and refresh my eyes with the great paintings at nearby San Domenico. The hotel is also wonderfully located if restaurants are your main interest, and the cheerful, very nice staff are ready at all time to get you reservations and give you advice. The people working at the hotel give you a warm, family feeling, remaining politely discreet unless you need their intervention: then, they are always efficient in their help. The rooms seem to be extremely clean; there was a smell in our bathroom, which promptly disappeared after we mentioned it. Breakfast was served by two very kind and efficient staff members, who were also very friendly and jovial. The choice of breakfast food was very wide, and a previous complain by a guest who missed fresh fruit seemed to have been answered to. Everything was fresh and plentiful, and the staff were always ready to supply you with the extra espresso or cappuccino. A great place and a great find.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms, adorable staff, central location... I was accompanying my husband for his Dental Seminar and we were able to walk to all the city attractions and yet remain comfortably warm inside despite the cold outside. I cannot thank them enough for all the effort in helping us with anything we needed. Thank you Elena, Manuela, Giorgia, Matteio, Angelo, Maria and all the others for making our stay perfect. We would love to visit you and stay at your hotel again. I advise everyone to stay at Hotel Touring

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Touring for a week in May 2013. What a gem! It is a small, family-owned hotel in a great location within walking distance of the Piazza Maggiore and all that Bologna has to offer. The owners and staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful, whether providing directions or recommendations, making reservations, or just asking about your day.
We had booked our “Golden Room” through their website. The English translation for the most part was good but the room configuration was not particularly clear. After checking in we found that we had twin beds that had been pushed together instead of the American-style queen size bed that we had expected. When we explained our situation at the front desk, it was immediately remedied and the beds were switched out. Be aware that “Single Use” (or “tablet” as they also call it) means one large bed. It is worth confirming when you make your reservation. That being said, our “Golden Room” was compact, modern and simply but beautifully done, including the bathroom.
Our rate included the breakfast buffet which was large and varied with plenty of fruits and vegetables, pastries, meats, juices, coffee (and cappuccino!) and tea. The breakfast room was bright and cheery, and the staff always greeted us with a smile.
One of the treats of this hotel is its roof-top terrace with panoramic views of Bologna and its many church spires and bell towers. It is a wonderful place to relax and have a drink. Family member Matteo is an engaging, knowledgable host who will greet you by name and make you feel right at home.
All in all, we had a great week and would highly recommend the Hotel Touring to anyone seeking an intimate “home base” for a stay in Bologna. You won’t be disappointed.

Room Tip: The "Golden Rooms" are worth the price. Our room was on the street side and was a bit noi...

Whenever I go to Bologna, I stay at the Hotel Touring. It is consistently one of the best hotels in city for price, location and amenities. Let me talk about each:
1. Price. Since the hotel is located a few minutes from the main square, you get the same service at a lower price.
2. Location. It is across from the beautiful church of San Domenico, five minutes from the Piazza Maggiore and 15 min or so from the University. You get all the benefits of the city center without having the foot/car traffic to deal with.
3. Amenities: It has a breakfast room in the basement with a good continental breakfast each morning. it has a nice patio/lounge with a small bar to relax in the evening. Most importantly it has a rooftop deck. There is nothing better than ordering a bottle of Prosecco and enjoying the breathtaking views of Bologna.

It even has a garage next door (and access to another nearby) if you rent a car and need to keep it overnight.

Love this place and the staff. Will continue to stay on every trip to Bologna!

Room Tip: If you need/want AC, make sure to ask for it in advance. Some rooms have a ceiling fan and some have...

This was a bit of a last minute booking which worked out really well. The hotel is about a 10 to 15 euro ride from the train station, it's probably not too far to walk but we didn't fancy it.

When we arrived (early) the staff were helpful and friendly and as our room was ready they were happy for us to check in. They were able to help us in English when our Italian failed and appreciated our attempts. They were happy to book taxi's or offer recommendations.

The room was a decent size for a short stay, with a good size bathroom, though the bath was on the small side. The room was clean and nice and warm and the bed nice and comfy. The only downside was on the Saturday evening the shower didn't really warm up, Sunday morning this was not a problem though so we didn't feel the need to complain about it.

As we were only there for one night we didn't really get to fully experience the hotel but based on this experience we would certainly go back and check the rest of it out.
