“Nice but not 4 stars worth”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2014

This hotel has a 4 star (Italian) rating. It would not compare to a 4 star hotel elsewhere and surprised they have this rating.

Many mornings people were left stranded, waiting for breakfast, whilst other guests finished as there is not enough tables for even half the guests at the hotel, and the breakfast buffet was unimaginative and limited.

Other issues included, a noisy guest or local apartment owner in the room above which wrecked our morning sleep ins, the mirror had rust on it, the sink kept clogging, there was limited restaurant options nearby without heading back towards the city centre (Piazza Maggiore) and there was not free newspaper or shuttle service to get guests out to the hotel or even tea/coffee facilities in the room. The hotel also didn't offer any directions on their website from the airport or train station, to enable us to determine if walking, a but, or taxi was our best option.

The bed was the biggest plus for this hotel; best so far on our trip but not enough to bring me back here again. For the price I'd suggest you stay closer to town centre and tourist attractions.

On a side note I'd double think about going to Bologna. Whilst it was nice enough there wasn't enough there to kept us interested compared to other Italian towns, for 3 days. I would suggest spending an extra day in the Cinque Terre or Florence rather than going to Bologna, you won't must much.

This hotel is not as it appears on website! It actually consists of only two floors with very noisy apartments above. We booked a superior double for three nights and were given a very small dark characterless room on the first floor with limited storage. After 2 nights with little sleep due to overhead noise we asked to be moved to a different room. We were moved down to a standard room and actually charged a higher rate for that night. A number of things were broken in that room but when pointed out to staff they said they were aware of the issues but they could not be repaired. It also turned out to be a noisy room due to proximity to reception and the air quality was terrible. Breakfast was pitiful! Sparse and on the one occasion they served fruit it was rottenThis is the worse hotel experience we have had in all our visits to Italy. It pretends to be something special on it's website but is really just a cheap conversion! We felt taken and want to spare others the same experience! The only positive was the pleasant receptionist and the beautiful city of Bologna.

It's a nice enough hotel but comparatively expensive. We stayed 2 nights in a Platinum suite (53) which was spacious and clean. It only has ambient light from 4 feature lamps and so was a bit dark. You can hear the road noise but it's not too intrusive unlike the herd of elephants staying in the room above us.
It's location is about 15 mins walk to the centre and there are a couple of good restaurants nearby - it's a shame there is not a full bar at the hotel as this would have been nice.

Not sure I would stay here again as I would like a bigger hotel nearer the centre.

If you decide on this hotel , it means you want something out of the ordinary , and you get it.
Rooms are special , good design , the atmosphere is special and you simply have to enjoy it.
The staff is so kind that you feel at home and ready to help in every possible way.
Breakfast has to be seriously improved.
It is close to town center and you can walk , which is great and if you follow the advice of the staff and try some of the recommended restaurants , your stay will be perfect.
I will be back for sure if again in Bologna.
The place is charming and special

Room Tip: ground floor rooms are the attraction of the hotel.Unusual design of the former chapel which you ha...

We had a two night stay here and it was well worth it. The hotel is unusual being a former convent with lovely high ceilings. The room was fairly spacious with a very high ceiling and unusual lighting, the bed very comfortable and the breakfast acceptable. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable about the city. Although the hotel is near the edge of the city wall this is not a hinderence as the stroll in to the centre under the covered walkways is worthwhile, go see Bologna.

Room Tip: Ours was no 43 and we enjoyed its high ceiling and lighting.

The rooms are big and clean. It is beautifully restored.
You are not able to have dinner at the hotel, but you are right in the center and restaurants are in walking distance. I have stayed here many times and the service is always great.
