“Located on a street next to a busy marketplace”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

The hotel is located on a street abuzz with activities filled with all the colors and flavors of an Italian marketplace. If you enjoy people watching and soaking in the sights and sounds, then this is for you. We stayed only for one night and thoroughly enjoyed watching the activities from our window on the second floor. The central location has its downsides though. Be prepared to wake up to the noise and chatter from as early as 6am, as street vendors prepare for business. The smells from the fish market might be interesting for some but not as refreshing for others. If you drive, car parking is available several streets down (about 15mins walk away) for 20 euros overnight.

We agree with the many reviewers who have given good reports. Bologna is a city on a comfortable scale, we stayed three nights and the central location of this hotel made it easy to explore the city widely on foot. Others have mentioned that the hotel reception area is on the first floor, also taxis cannot get within about 100m, so it's unsuitable for the less able and for those who need a lot of luggage.
If you need your toilet paper folding into a neat 'V' each day and a chocolate on your pillow, you'll be disappointed. However, the location, the friendly and helpful staff, comfortable bed and the very clean room made this the ideal choice for our short break.

The hotel couldn't be better placed for the centre of city life. We stayed for 2 nights and found it clean and comfortable although quiet isn't a word I'd use to describe our room which looked out over a vibrant narrow street of fish stalls, beautiful looking fruit and veg shops and mouthwatering, aromatic Parmesan cheeses and prosciutto. If you come to the city centre don't expect to settle in for a quiet night...the street only became really silent in the pre-dawn hours. I loved our room: yes, you can hear your neighbours a little, but I felt very comfortable and the painted ceiling was delightful. Night life here is very sociable and enjoyable for those who enjoy people watching. Not a comment on the hotel, but the downside of Bologna in general was that there are very many beggars and expect to be accosted by salesmen selling tat if you sit outside. Best things to do, walk around and look at life in a different city, and climb the Torre Anselli.

This hotel is well located with all the major attractions in walking distance. The street around the hotel has quirky meat and veg shops. We stayed in Room 207, it was quiet (for Bologna). The decor of the hotel and rooms are quirky and interesting.

We stayed in room 303, which was not facing the street so it was pretty quiet when the window was shut. Intermittent wi-fi but the desk clerk did try and fix it. Our room was spacious, by European standards but the bathroom had a tub with a handheld shower and no shower curtain, making it impossible to shower. They will do laundry for 10 euro. The reviewer that mentioned no elevator until the reception desk is correct. This requires climbing 2 flights of stairs. This is not a hotel that the disabled can stay in. Location in Bologna is very good. Probably the biggest selling point of this hotel.

Great little hotel for 1 night but no elevator to front desk where the elevator starts...lol
The room was ok but you hear your neighbours as if there in your own quarters. It is very well located for all the attractions and restaurant. 10 minutes taxi ride from train station.

This is a great place to stay in the very heart of Bologna's lively historic centre with a host of great bars, shops, restaurants and food stalls right on your doorstep. We loved the location as we only stayed in Bologna for 2 nights and wanted to be close to the essential sights and sounds and flavours. - wee weren't disappointed! Our room (303) was large and airy and very comfortable with views across the old city rooftops. The breakfast was simple but sufficient and the staff were very welcoming, professional and friendly. The streets around the hotel are pedestrianised and hum from morning to late at night - there are great bars right next door serving aperitifs (tapas) and the Via de Drappiere has wonderful fish, fruit and flower stalls as well as food shops selling local cheeses, meats and truffles. I really loved the atmosphere. The Albergo is also close to many shops and stores so you can do many pit-stops during the day to drop of your shopping while the main historic sights and museums are within walking distance.
