Our 3 night stay at the fairly new AC Marriott Bologna was pleasant without any surprises. We were greeted by Michel upon check in who was very efficient and pleasant. As a Marriott Elite Gold member, we were upgraded to a deluxe room which included free mini bar and WiFi for all 4 of our devices. Michel took time to suggest places to visit and called various restaurants to make reservations for us as it was August and many businesses close for the month. He was very accommodating!

Our room was on the 5th floor, very quiet away from the street and facing the quiet park below. The room was clean with modern furnishings. Only negative was the lack of drawers- ask for lots of hangers? The bathroom is supplied with large bath towels and amenities including bathrobes and slippers. Water pressure is excellent with lots of hot water! AC very efficient with high speed WiFi.

It was nice to have the mini bar free of charge. The refrigerator was filled with beer, juices, water, soda, a candy bar and small can of chips. It was refreshed daily.

Breakfast was excellent compared to the AC Genova as the fruit and juices were of higher quality. Croissants are freshly baked with a large assortment of pastries. The usual scrambled eggs and cut up hot dogs seem to be standard Italian fare? Cereals, cheese and meats round out the assortment of food. Expresso and cappachinos are made to order while thermos filled with "American" coffee is self serve.

The restaurant is clean and orderly with a very nice staff member taking care of the tables, seating and replenishing the food. We were the last ones to make it to breakfast one morning with croissants and eggs gone. We expected a "all finished" response, but instead was presented with a platter of freshly baked croissants and eggs. Impressive!

We used the 6th floor steam room x2, but not the fitness room which had free weights, a treadmill, bicycles and other equipment. The wet area was very nice with towels and shampoo/bath gel. 3 showers, handicapped bathroom and toilets round out the wet area. The steam room was hot and steamy!

The walk to old town is around 20 minutes which was good exercise for us as we needed to burn calories after all the gelato, pizzas and pastas! We bought a bus ticket (#21 stops in front of the hotel), but never used it.
All the sights in Bologna can be reached walking.

We arrived by train and took a taxi to the hotel which cost 8.5 Euros. One can walk easily if you have wheels on suitcases. If walking from train station, with your back to the station facing Uni Hotel, go left and cross the street. Make left and walk down Via Matteotti crossing over the bridge. Continue and make right onto Via S. Serlio (you will see 3 round concrete post on street to prevent cars from making right turn). Walk 4 blocks straight ahead and you will see AC Marriott on left side of street. It's about a 10 minute walk.

No complaints, no surprises with this hotel. Thanks AC Bologna for a pleasant stay!

We spent a weekend in Bologna and stayed in this hotel. Plus: nice big rooms, very quiet and secure environment. Minus: a bit further away from the city centre (€ 12 = $ 16 for the taxi fare). We had dinner twice at the restaurant, enjoying an excellent service with regional dishes that were fantastic (great food at a great price!). Overall: excellent hotel and restaurant experience, great value for money, highly recommended!

Room Tip: High floor is always better!

This hotel is modern and comfortable, but it is not as good as other AC Marriott properties where I have stayed, rooms are smallish, with minimal storage space, no drawers and tiny closet space, small TV, not very good air conditioning, no coffe maker in room, surrounded by an unfriendly neighborhoods, no free Wi-fi in rooms, weak free wi-fi in lobby and not close to the center of the city. On the positive side the hotel was quiet and clean, service very friendly and professional, brekfast very good and furnishings modern and attractive,

Room Tip: There is free parking just in front of the hotel and a laundromat two blocks away.

Here 4 days. Easy access to Bologna, either taxi or car or bus. But, it is also great for day trips. We did Ravenna, San Marino, and San Leo from here on eady day trips. Rimini is easy as are the famous cities, Modens, Parma, Reggio. The plus is Marriott consistency, and, the hotel restaurant, good local food.

Room Tip: Get a room on the north side for quiet and view.

My two employees and I stayed here for 1 night before our flight back to the USA from Bologna Italy.

Very clean and neat rooms and much larger than what is typical in Europe. It is nice to find something comfortable at the end of the trip.

Only downside, which is typical of European hotels is not enough parking. We used the garage parking which was an additional 15 Euros for the night.

Would definitely stay here again.

This was our second AC on this trip, as we had stayed at Arezzo the night before. It was clean and the rooms were nicely configured. Good breakfast in the morning. No Staff offered a nice dinner suggestion, which was spot on for quality and service. Nicely done!

This brand hotel is apparently Marriott's budget brand in Italy. We actually stayed in two of these during our visit - Bologna and Padova. They are nice hotels that are located in the more industrial areas. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was comparable to most of other hotels we stayed at. One thing to consider when booking these hotels, is that Wi-Fi is not included in several of the pricing options. It is an additional charge. Then, to make things a little more complicated, if you purchase the Wi-Fi, it is only good on one device. If there are two people in the room who want internet access at the same time, then you have to purchase two separate services. In addition, the device you first use with the password is the only device that will have access. And the Wi-Fi service was not cheap. I would definitely stay here again because it was clean and comfortable but might look for other options first.
