“Great hotel.”
Reviewed 29 December 2009

This is a great hotel even though it's a little way out of the centre of town. The number 25 bus takes you into town in 10 minutes. There is a big supermarket right next to the hotel as well. The hotel has a decent gym and good breakfast. Everything is clean and well run. My only critisizm is that you can hear the people in the next room but ear plugs were sufficient to block that sound out.

We realy enjoyed our stay at the Savhotel Bologna.

The room was very modern with super comfy beds. The Shower was fantastic!

The service was good, reception were very helpful and on the day we checked out they kept hold of our bags for the day so that we could go and enjoy the last day without hauling our luggage around the city.

The location was fine for us. It was about 2 km from the centre. There was a bus outside the hotel that ran every 5 minutes and took about 10 mins to get there. This was only 1 euro but we decided to walk in and out so that we could see more of the city on the way. (And to try and work off the wonderful food). It only took 20 mins to walk there.

The breakfast was absolutly perfect, pleanty of choice.

The rate we paid was superb value and we will for sure go back in the summer.

All in all a very satisifying relaxing weekend.

Was supposed to be here for two nights but when arrived after having hassle trying to find it (with GPS!), found they had double booked our two rooms as there was a medical conference on. First time in many years of travelling that this has happened. They booked us in to another hotel (Cosmopolitan Hotel even further out of city) for first night but gave us free transfers and after we moaned gave us free meal at the other hotel. This cost them over 170E so cant really complain too much about the customer services. The hotel itself is very modern. lovely rooms. Has a gym and the bar was nice. Just a bit too far out if you were here for more than a couple of days.

Booked this hotel as we were to have a car and wanted to hit a hotel as soon as we arrive, Fit the bill. Clean, modern. One room they showed me was smelling like smoke but, lucky there were other rooms available. Price was reasonable. Bus to city leave every 10 - 20 minutes and takes about 15 minutes. Good choice if you don't stay long or there for a trade show.

I found an incredibly cheap fly to Bologna, for £40 return for me and my wife!
I then looked for a suitable quality hotel for our romantic getaway. I checked 'Tripadvisor' as usual and found this hotel had favourable reviews. I got an amazing price for 3 nights across the weekend and booked immediately.

It's modern, slick, contemporary design suited us perfectly. I've stayed in hotels that charge double/triple the price and offer less!!

Yes it is about 20-30 mins walk to the centre of town but we didn't care as the hotel is in a quiet estate, away from the noisy traffic.

You can catch the bus (No:25) into town (next to the towers) for 1 euro and unlike in the UK the buses are clean/reliable and frequent. A taxi will cost you about 7-8 euro.

Bologna has some great sights and this hotel is a great base.
One the best hotels we've stayed in, definitely the best value.

4 star quality for peanuts!!! Highly Recommended!!

My husband and I stayed at Savhotel for five nights in June and paid 364 Euro for the entire stay. We were very happy with the price and satisfied with most aspects of the hotel. The highlights were the beautiful design of the hotel, the delicious breakfast, and the spacious shower/tub and elegant bathroom (though it did not have much privacy because of the glass door). The breakfast buffet included eggs and bacon, sausages, three kinds of cut meats, many breads and pastries, cereals, yoghurts, three kinds of juice, fruit salad, etc. and was very tasty and satisfying. The breakfast room was modern and the staff were friendly. However, some of the staff at the reception were not quite so welcoming and sometimes did not even say hello when we came in. It was great to have free internet in our room, but it was quite slow and sometimes stopped working entirely for short periods. Another small problem was that we could hear everything that went on in the corridor (though not in the other rooms). Every time someone slammed their door or talked in the corridor we could hear it quite clearly. It was obvious that the hotel is no longer brand new because there were definitely some scratches and spots on the furniture and walls, but nothing major. The rooms were thoroughly cleaned, we did not find a speck of dust or dirt, and the beds were made and the bathroom cleaned every day.

Bologna was a great surprise. There is lots of fantastic architecture, as well as great food and shopping. We took the train to Florence one day (1 hour) and Venice another (2 hours). Whatever you do, do not forget to stamp your train ticket before you get on the train or you will get a steep fine. We were quite upset about this as nobody had told us that we should stamp the ticket, but the conductor did not care about this. It takes 10 - 15 minutes to walk to the train station which is about half way to the center of Bologna from the hotel. The staff gave us a map, the main square was easy to find, and the walk was pleasant with lots of shops from the train station and on. We walked home quite late several nights which was not a problem since we stayed on main streets.

The last day we discovered that there were free drinks in the bar everyday from 10-6. Do not miss this! According to the homepage there should be snacks as well, but they were basically nonexistent. There were refreshing juices and bottled water as well as coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. We wanted to try the restaurant but as far as we could tell it was only open on Saturdays so we missed it, which was disappointing. Instead we had a nice simple dinner in the bar at a good price.

Considering the price of this hotel the problems we had were minor and we would definitely stay there again.

We chose the Savhotel due to the proximity of the Bologna Fiere (convention center). The Unaway Hotel is a bit closer if you do not wish to walk the 4 blocks from the Sav to the Fiere. The Savhotel has a very clean crisp look about it. I would say it's a boutique hotel. The room is adequate in size & the bed very comfortable. Internet is free & that is a plus. They have computers in the lobby, but they will supply you with a wire to connect in your room (at no cost too). The breakfast was adequate with hot & cold offerings. The restaurant opens at 7 PM & we ate there 2 nights because we were too tired from working all day. We were unaware (our error for not checking) that the restauarnt is closed on Sunday evening. The bar serves a limited menu on Sundays. The only downside is the distance from downtown. If you are going to a convention I would highly recommend the Savhotel, but if you are going for sightseeing you will need to take a taxi anywhere you want to go.
