“A fantastic stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2010

We have just come back from a fantastic stay in the Savoia. We loved the hotel and staff and felt compelled to write our first tripadvisor review as we were so happy with the hotel. We found the staff at all times to be helpful and friendly. The staff all seem happy to be working there and all got on with each other and willing to stop and chat to us which is great to see as we were in a restaurant in the middle of bologna one night where the waiters had a blazing row beside us! We loved the breakfast all you can eat of fruit, pastries cereals etc. It kept us going. The location is great for those travelling by air. It is only a few minutes from the aiport in a taxi cost about 20 euro. And after that take buses! The stop is just outside the hotel and only a euro. We took the 20 into the centre and 35 to the train station and with buses every few minutes we were never waiting. We enjoyed really good food in the restaurant and cocktails by the pool where we relaxed for a few days. The rooms were spotless and comfortable with aircon and were well maintained. The decor of the hotel is fresh and modern and clean. There is free internet access and use of a pool table. We know the staff of the hotel may read this review so we have one suggestion CHANGE THE CD AT THE POOL. We were sick to death of the cranberries and leona lewis on a loop!! Otherwise a great hotel and a fantastic find. Thanks tripadvisor!! Highly recommended

My girlfriend and I booked this hotel to end our one month train trip through Europe. We had already seen Bologna, so we specifically chose this hotel based on the many comments that rated this hotel as excellent. Maybe because our expectations were too high, we weren't as enthusiastic as everyone else.

It is true, as soon as you walk into the beautiful lobby you feel you're entering a nice hotel with a professional staff. We had no complaints about the room and the breakfast was lovely. Some people remarked the hotel offered fresh orange juice, which we believe they do not, but there is plenty of choice anyway so no complaints about that! The hotel also offers an outdoor swimming pool and a gym, and I also saw people playing table tennis, so you don't get bored easily.

The reasons why we weren't that enthusiastic about the hotel were that we thought the pool and the area around the pool would be bigger. The first day we could barely find a nice comfortable seat, however the next day it wasn't a problem at all. Also, the hotel offers free wifi but it was the worst internet connection ever! I tried it everywhere: the room, the lobby, the pool, even the gym, but nowhere did it get any better. It took about 15 minutes just to access your mail, so the wifi was practically useless. I asked reception about this, and they told me they had already got a couple of complaints that day but they could not do anything about it. Also, when you take the bus to the hotel, it stops right in front of the main entrance, but when you want to take a bus back into the city you need to walk a couple of minutes down the road.

Basically, except for the wifi, it is a nice, comfortable hotel with a courteous staff. Also, if you're traveling by train, you have to take bus 35 which stops in front of the train station (but you have to cross the road first to get to the right bus stop).

I chose this hotel from the internet as I liked the idea of being a bus ride from the city & staying somewhere with pool & peaceful surroundings. It way exceeded expectations. I booked a suite of which there are only 2, they have a huge terrace with own spa tub outside! Gorgeous Italian luxury, & I would suggest the ordinary rooms are fine too & of course cheaper!
Easy buses (1 euro) to town & I would say don't be put off by those who are negative about the location.....what better than combining the City with relaxation by the pool. Excellent supermarket nearby too.
Note, this is essentially a business hotel so many guests are there for meetings, not to sit by the pool! The location also makes this place ideal for those attending trade fairs so book your leisure break outside of those dates for a great deal.
Taxi airport about 12 mins & 18 Euros.
Breakfast inc. & good, but have had better.
Also to say, we actually returned again in July, can't recommend any better than that, & also very peaceful for sleep, not a sound outside.
Enough said, give it a try, & note my sign in is choosycat, because I am !!!!!!!

We have literally just returned from a 10 day holiday at this hotel. It's cheapest to book direct on there web page. We pre - paid and got a great deal. We arrived with two children age 12, the other 22 years. The Hotel is literally a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport ( cost €16.00 from the airport one way )
You don't need to hire a car, as there are frequent transport links from the hotel to Bologna, 10 mins on a bus. or to the the train station, 15 minutes on a bus.

I have to say i was very dissapointed in Bologna, lots of graffitti everywhere and after 10.00 p.m dozens of youths were drinking and screaming outside the train station, whilst the police watched. It made us quite nervous.
Though to be fair, the kids loved the markets on a Friday and Saturday ,as they were full of bargain clothes, shoes and jewellery.

The hotel holds business meetings and conferences, though this didn't affect our stay. Our room was more than an adequate size with a king size bed and two singles. The air conditioning was a blessing as one day it was 36 degrees !
The entire hotel is spotlessley clean,( the bed sheets were changed every morning) There is one member of staff who spends the entire day in the swimming pool area, to ensure it is kept clean and to take your order for snacks or drinks.
There is a wonderful cafe adjecent to the pool area that serves the most tasty and intoxicating cocktails. My 22 year old loved the Pina Coladas made with the pulp of fresh pineapples and packed with lots of alcohol....... The 12 year old loved the lemon sorbets.
The Hotel have a pool table and table tennis, These activities are free and are in the basement area, which is lovely and cool. We used to pop down before we went to bed for a quick game. They also have free internet..

One of the best things about this Hotel is the restaraunt. The food is incredible and not expensive. Try the homemade pink raviolli with aubergines, in a tomatoes and basil sauce or seafood served at your table in a copper pot with spagetti, just two of the starters. My hubby loved the t bone steaks, they arrive the size as your dinner plate. I loved the bream and seafood baked in foil. Yum, Yum, Yum. On a Wednesday night they light a barbeque at the pool and the restraunt and all the staff move outside !
It was so hot we spent most of our day's in and around the Hotel pool.

The Hotel offer complimentary bikes, the ladies ones have wicker baskets on the front.
( I say this, as it is handy for the supermarket trips to get all your bits and pieces. )
As i haven't ridden a bike for years, i was reluctant to have ago, but after a bit of nagging from the rest of the family off i went. It was great fun. There is a clean well stocked supermarket and a few large shops ( including, dare i say it....... McDonalds) less than a 10 minute bike ride away. If you love shoes, there is a shop with literally hundreds and hundreds of every shape, style and colour you imagine. My daughters bought a few pairs, from only €20.00 a pair a bargain.

If you looking for a relaxing holiday, in a clean comfortable hotel with a pool and fantastic restraunt near the airport, then i would say just book it...............you won't be dissapionted.
Just bring plenty of books and sun lotion if you go in July and August.

We were going to Bologna and the photos of this hotel didn't convince me! We needn't have worried as we spent 5 wonderful days with our teenage kids at the Savoia Regency. 3 Km from the centre, it's a great option particularly if you're driving. Have you ever been filled with trepidation at the thought of arriving at a city by car and entering a labrynth of streets and one way systems. No problem here as the savoia is just 150m off the A14/E45. Make sure you switch with the Tangenziale approaching Bologna. After that we never worried about the car and used the excellent bus service in & out of Bologna. Frequent service 1 euro each way. For day trips it was brilliant as we could access the motorway within minutes - travelling to Pisa, Florence & Rimini. A Tip - we did a day trip to Venice and can totally recommend the train from centre of Bologna right to Venice. Good value service ( 2nd class) & under 2 hours each way!
Back to the Hotel. Modern bright & clean with lovely bedrooms. When you wanted to just chill for the day a lovely pool & sun lounge area - never crowded. A really good breakfast - lots of choice and on the terrace each morning. Reception staff very helpful. The restaurant on site is really good value & food is excellent. Look at the price per person per night and I would say that it's great to be pleasantly surprised once & a while on holidays where you more often or not believe that you've been ripped off! Overall a very enjoyable stay and I will definitely go back!

We stayed at the Savoia Regency twice in July. Once on our way to Puglia and also on our way back. The hotel is located close to the highway exit so it was really easy to find. Despite being close to the highway, the hotel is peaceful and calm. It was pleasant to walk in the adjoining park after dinner.

Service was fantastic during both stays and we found all the staff very to be very helpful and attentive. A dip in the pool was exactly what we needed after our long car journey!

We also ate at the restaurant and found the choice, the food and the value for money all excellent!

Stayed for two nights to break journey through to Abruzzo. Arrived late (2.am) and someone was witing for us. Bedroom was nice, Excellent bathroom, comfortable bed. Service was good throughout. Ate in Garganelli Restaurant on second night - meal was heaven and exceelent serivce. Had a bargain rate so overall were very impressed. Hotel is too far out to walk into Bologna but no problem with a car.
