“Worth an hour or two, but only if you are already interested in modern art”
Reviewed 12 July 2013

The lower gallery is has exhibits appearing for limited duration. When I visited, it was a focus on female artists and there were some very nice pieces. Overall, very good. The upper floors are the permanent collection and that part was also very good, but too limited and not substantial enough to be excellent. But it is a fairly new museum with time to find an important niche. The location is a reasonable walk from the center and accessible by bus, but the immediate neighborhood is pretty industrial/residential and lacks tourist amenities. You won't love it unless you are already interested in modern art.

“Modern Art an easy Walk from Old Town”
Reviewed 6 June 2013

The museum opens at noon, so no hurry! The collection is small and features local artists. Some interesting pieces and admission is included with the 20 euro museum pass.

“Room For Improvement”
Reviewed 16 April 2013

According to the Rough Guide this fairly new modern art museum aims to rival the Guggenheim or MOMA but they've got a long way to go before they get anywhere close! Although it has some interesting exhibits there aren't a huge number of them and nothing on a grand scale. Nevertheless we enjoyed an hour there on a wet travelling day, having a change of scenery and era from all the cathedrals, palaces, museums, etc.! The staff are as plentiful and unfriendly as all the other reviewers say - I felt like they were poised, ready to pounce and stop me stealing or defacing the artwork :-(

Note - if you have the Rough Guide that tells you the permanent exhibition is free, then sadly this is not the case anymore. It now costs €6 per adult (kids free) for the whole place - permanent and special exhibitions. Presumably that's to pay for all the unfriendly staff!!

“The building is very nice”
Reviewed 23 March 2013 via mobile

It was OK. There was an interesting exhibition on the first floor, but the permanent one on the second floor had quite a few uninteresting pieces. If you've got nothing else to do, it's an OK way to kill an hour - but not a must if you have other tings on your menu. The building itself is a nice gallery.
