This apartment had an excellent location on the main square of Bologna, with windows that opened on to the square (Piazza Maggiore). The apartment was very clean. However, the windows were half height, the furniture was inadequate for more than two (we had four) and the kitchen was not separate from the living room. There were not enough utensils in the kitchen to cook properly. The apartment had a washing machine (very small) but no dryer and even with a drying rack, there was nowhere to put it other than on a very tiny landing. The wifi only worked half the time, despite our complaints it took two days to be fixed. The elevator to the third floor required a climb up a narrow stairway and did not work 3 days out of 7, including the day we left, when we had to drag heavy bags down the stairs. If we had left the apartment with the keys on the table and stepped onto the tiny landing for the non-working elevator, we would have been locked out on leaving, with no way to get back in or get down to the ground. The shower was tiny and the second bedroom had two twin beds, one of which was a metal cot, despite them knowing that we had two adults coming to stay with us there. During our stay the city was crowded with returning students (an area just adjacent to ours) and pilgrims who came for the Franciscan Fair they set up 3 days in the major city plaza, ruining our view and causing a lot of noise from construction. The property was described as being on top of an old palazzo (Banchi) but it turned out it wasn't really a palazzo at all - it was an ordinary and oddly refurbished building with a false front. The remodeling had cut off half the windows that overlooked the square. Very odd place. Would never rent another Halides-owned property.
