Four of us had lunch today at this unique little (4 tables) restaurant behind the salumeria. The antipasti and primi were consistently excellent, but none of us were fully satisfied with our secondi. The fried bread antipasta, a specialty of the house, was outstanding. For secondi, two of us had the rabbit, which had to be sent back initially because it was too salty. (It was better the second time around.) The beef cheeks and the pork were good, but not outstanding. Service was top notch, and the atmosphere was very special. This restaurant is a world-famous Modena institution, and I felt privileged to experience it. However, there are other restaurants in the area which are equally good and not as expensive. (You can figure on 50-75 Euro per person with a shared antipasto, two 1/2 portions of primi, two 1/2 portions of a secondi, a moderate wine, and a shared dessert.). I'm very glad I went, but I don't need to return. Reservation, of course, are essential.
