We had read about this trattoria in Fodor's, and thankfully went there. It is "Bedlam Manor" when you walk through the door and you must find the owner to put your name on the list for a table. But once you are seated and begin enjoying the food and the local flavor, you are so glad you are there. It is upstairs directly across the street from the city market, which is a must see. We absolutely loved this place!

We'd been trying to visit this popular lunchtime spot for a long time and finally made it. Food was fine, but failed to live up to the hype it had been given by other visitors. I had the tortelloni, which were good but honestly nothing special. My wife had the lasagne which (isn't it always the way?!) looked the better dish.

Service was incredibly fast, overall we were probably in and out in about an hour. They speak good English, which is annoying when you speak Italian and they refuse to speak it to you. Overall very reasonable, two course lunch for me, my wife & son, including wine, was 40 Euros. But be aware: they don't take cards.

Top tip seems to be to go for lunch in July, it will be unbearably hot but the restaurant will be quiet and you'll get a table no problem.

Small, homey, with no written menu, very busy at lunch - we were the only tourists or non-Italians. The server will read the menu to you, with five or six choices of both pasta and secondi the day we were there They also have various contorni and dolci on offer.

We had the tagliatelle a ragu; a nice sized bowl of tender pasta, with a simple but tasty sauce. Secondi included stinco forno; a delicious and tender pork hick with a nice rosemary scented jus and a
"basket" made of parmigiano with fresh mozzarella and balsamic vinegar.

Overall the food was excellent and, judging by the crowd, very popular. If you are near the Mercato around lunch time, be sure to check it out. But get there early!

Do not miss - fantastic tortelloni and other pastas. Only lunch, arrive early or wait. The restaurant has no street front - up one flight of stairs just down from the market.

Superb and authentic.

We had lunch here after stocking up at the market on a 4 month tour of Europe. Highlights were spinach and riccota tortelloni, zampone and a sort of pumpkin creme caramel. Charming and friendly service from what I assumed was the wife of the owner. 56 Eur for two with a half bottle of passable red, water and coffee.

Absolutely loved it.
