I have not seen lots of Battisterios - you do not find this kind of building every where in Italy. But this one is definitively worth to visit. You only need 15 mins, but it is very impressive and original (inside I mean).

Try to go when it opens, before the tour parties arrive. We had the place to ourselves at 9.15 am. We were loaned an illustrated guide book in English which, having gazed at all the interior beauty, we could then refer to it for information. Suggest you read about the Battistero before you go to visit it to get the most from your visit. Under no account miss seeing this gem.

Both interior and exterior detail come together in this unique baptistry. 6 euros is a small price to pay to see such an uncommon structure. Make sure your camera has a good zoom lens, as there is a tremendous amount of detail in the ceiling alone.

Beautiful architecture marking a transition between the Romanesque and Gothic styles, and it is considered to be among the most important Medieval monuments in Europe. The lighting is exquiste.

There is so much fantastic detail in the Baptistery that you need a strong neck and some binoculars. And the external detail is also valuable. Go across to the Diocesan Museum and use the computer in the exhibition room to see close ups
