3 night business trip

Review of Hotel Astoria
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Jan 2017
A 3 night trip for work at EFSA. My usual hotel was full so this was my first stay at the Astoria for several years. It is not as good as my usual but at less than half the price it was i think better value and I may well start using it more frequently. Main criticism was that the rooms were too hot which meant sleeping with the windows wide open. In winter with temperatures below freezing this is not very good for the environment.
Date of stay: January 2017
Room Tip: if you like to keep a window open ask for a room that does not face the noisy train track

The rooms were nice and clean and the staff friendly. The location is really good next to the station, plus it is a short walk into the City centre (10 minutes)
Stayed here for 3 nights and slept well each night with no noise.
Only issue I had was the key cards to get in to the room kept playing up and had to be replaced a few times.

The hotel is situated at an excellent location within walking distance from all the central must-sees, restaurants and bars!
It has a parking space which was very convenient during our stay!
The hotel room was spacious and clean, but its decor was a bit dated.
The most remarkable feature though, was the restaurant in the same building with the hotel! We arrived late in the city, and this restaurant the receptionist recommended us seemed like the only choice, but it was a great unexpected surprise! We had a great dinner, far better than the ones we had in restaurants recommended by well-known tour city guides.

We would stay again!

I booked a room for one night in this hotel while in Parma. Nice place, you can reach the city center in 5 minutes on foot.
The hotel offers breakfast, a good one but not as fresh as I expected.
There's also a car parking which costs 14€ per day, but it's more convenient to leave the car in Viale Antonio Fratti: costs 8€ per day (24h) and it's only 100mt far from the hotel.
I didn't like the moquette everywhere, but that's my personal opinion.

Dear Isa

thank you for staying at hotel Astoria. We are sorry that the breakfast was good but not fresh enough, if possibile we would like to get more details in order to improve our service.
For the parking, our parking is in the building, easily reachable and safe, the one in Viale Fratti is a public one...
Thank you again for being our guest.

The staff at the hotel is excellent. They really hire good people at the front desk. The main problem I had with this hotel was the noise. The train runs right next to the hotel. I was constantly awaken by the sound of the brakes of the trains all night long.
I will say that the hotel itself was very clean and the rooms, while simple (no flat screen TV), it was well kept.
The surrounding area of the hotel is not very nice, but it is a short walk to the center of Parma which is very nice.
Overall, the hotel has OK, but for the more sophisticated traveler, this would not be a good choice.

We stayed here for four nights while attending some of the events at the Verdi Festival. The hotel could not have been closer to the station and yet it wasn't at all far to walk to the main attractions of Parma.
The room was a good size, with 'proper' coathangers, but no tea/coffee making facilities and no fridge.
The hotel served us well, but I didn't find the front desk staff very friendly. In fact I had paid up front (before Brexit) for our four nights' B and B and yet during a fairly protracted check in process, I was asked to pay in advance (again?!).
