everything is perfect.location, atmosphere, wine list and prices, service and best of all the food. to michelin standard yet a peasant touch, a homely taste, a fabulous quality of ingredients. I judged every single Restaurant I visited in Parma on this, our first meal, none came close! visit with absolute confidence, if, like me, you are a gourmand, go, you will not be disappointed.

I booked this restaurant 6 weeks ago through the fork (TripAdvisor). We had been looking forward to eating here and even made a stop in Parma just to do so.

I checked online to make sure it was open the day of and received confirmation of our reso.

When we arrived there was a sign on the door that it is closed until August!!

To say we were disappointed is an understatement. They really should have contacted us or not allowed us to make a reso.

Since you step in you get a sense that the place has its own stile, demure but consistent. The room on the left with the arched window (memory of an old shop window) is very nice. The staff were welcoming (may be they could have been more so if we went there at the beginning of the long weekend not the end of it), they were attentive but not pushy to get the order. The food was extremely good and prepared with great care. I ordered cappelletti in brodo; cappelletti are like oversized tortellini in my understanding of the regional cuisine, while in my plate I had delicious round shaped parcels of pasta in the shape of what is called in England a trappers hut, just squashed. Well, I enquired with the maitre if these were the cappelletti I ordered referring to the shape to me known. I was gently reminded that the shape I referred to is the shape in use in Modena, a completely different ball game, as we were (clearly) in Parma. That is a lesson: 52 miles away and they stick to their culinary traditions as if it was a matter of life and death. WOW! And I am Italian!! Anyway i had some salami di Felino as a main and it was superb as dry and hardish. Don't get confused between cappelletti from Para and those from Modena...... Great meal!!!!

Every dish was loaded with flavor. One of the best meals of the trip. The restaurant wasn't full and we had great service.

Osteria del 36 is full for dinner, at lunch we found it empty. So much the better since the menu is the same and you get undivided attention of the staff. Traditional grilled vegetables and pasta are the best, particularly the very creative pasta stuffed with mortadella and lemon and pistachios. What is also nice that they have their own local vineyards so one can taste the complete local package which the purpose of my travels.
They claim to be one of the oldest if not the oldest restaurants in Parma.
