Ristorante la Gardela has an extensive a la carte menu, a set menu, daily specials and a tasting menu featuring regional dishes. There is a vast choice of antipasti, pasta dishes, meat and fish dishes, grills and vegetables. The wine list is also extensive and offers a good choice of regional and national wines.
The staff are pleasant, helpful, efficient and hard-working. You will refill your own glasses, but they will notice when your bottle is empty and ask whether you want another. We were impressed by both the energy and organisation.
Both our meals were excellent. Antipasti of young artichokes in olive oil and a local soft cheese, squacquerone (like a soft mozzarella with more flavour?), local saucisson accompanied by rocket and piadina. The spaghettu aglio, olio and pepperoncino and the tagliatelli siciliana were exemplary and the veal marsala was perfectly done. The T-bone was a delicious piece of meat, perfectly cooked. Portions are excessively generous.
The lemon sobetto was very lemony and light and creamy - a surprise. Both the Sangiovese wines we ordered - on the waitress's recommendation were good and distinctive.
We would be happy to return - still lots of things to try!
