Stayed here for two nights en route to other cities. As we were driving chose hotel just outside city. No GPS, using the old brain and map. Found it with little trouble and loved the location. Upon arrival we were offered refreshment before being shown to our super apartment. Omar couldn't have been more helpful and gave us so much information. A very pleasant 25 minute walk into the centre. Breakfast buffet was excellent and we had cherries straight from the trees to the breakfast bowl. When we were leaving Omar printed out Google maps for us so we could get on the right road to visit St Apollinare in Classe before heading off to Ferrara. Clean, comfortable and the added advantage of a washing machine downstairs which was a blessing for us on our month of travels. Would definitely return.

Stayed here two nights on a recent trip through Northern Italy. Stayed in a two-room apartment at this hotel, with a kitchen and a full array of cooking and eating utensils. Situated on a busy street, but not too noisy. Chirping birds and flowering fruit trees were lovely. If using a GPS device to try to find this hotel, be sure to enter "Viale" rather than "Via" for the address. "Via" will not be found through the Garmin software. Took us one and a quarter hours to find the place after having finally asked at a Holiday Inn! The hotel's return e-mail address uses "Via," not "Viale." When I complained about this to the otherwise very helpful man at the front desk, he sort of shrugged it off, saying something like, "This is Italy." Expect to pray for your nights up front. Very helpful directions to very inexpensive parking lots in the city. Ravenna is not to be missed for its mosaics and nearby excellent seafood. This was a very good stay at a very good hotel.

We were expecting a roadside motel and were wonderfully surprised. This lovely hotel was so much more than we imagined. Also, the location was very convenient to anything you might want to see in Ravenna. We were offered coffee quickly upon our arrival. The front desk staff was amazing, helpful and sweet as could be. They offered dining suggestions along with a map and discounts cards too. They were eager to help with any questions we had. The room had an attached cooking (optional) and dining area, plus a balcony. All was spotless and in excellent condition! Bikes were available to those who still had the energy to peddle. The morning breakfast buffet offered pastries, meats, cheeses, fruits and coffee/tea. On top of all this, the price was extremely reasonable. I wish we could find places like this more often.

This family-run, immaculate hotel is conveniently located: the hotel lets its customers use their bicyles for free to get around Ravenna, which is the ideal way to see the city, since much of the center is closed off to car traffic, and the many one-way and car-free streets can be exasperating. Our apartment had air-conitioning that worked, and screens (a rarity in Italy), as well as a balcony with a little clothes-line where one could hang out laundry. The property itself abounds with fruit and olive trees, and the owners pick fresh fruit every morning, which they offer to their guests. The cleaning service is also top notch and regular. Although we opted to have breakfast in our apartment, the hotel also provides a plentiful fresh selection. We have been going to Ravenna for the past 15 years, and would definitely return to the Antica Residence!

This beautifully run, and maintained property is on the south edge of Ravenna. One does need a car. Roads and apartment buildings are near by, but the way the hotel is placed on the property puts its back to that. There are lovely grounds and there is a sense of spaciousness. The units are all redone, I think all balconies and patios face the back, onto a treed area. Our unit was immaculately clean. Furnishings are tastefully modern. Antica Ravenna Residence igives you relief with a safe place not only to park your car, but to have it close at hand. Trees and rose bushes are at the parking area. There is an elevator. Wi Fi is free in your room. The breakfast was lovely, and included meat. Our hostess, Martina, was gracous and lovely. We highly recommend taking the bikes into town (they come furnished with locks). I am 68, am rarely on a bike, and thoroughly enjoyed biking from site to site.

Room Tip: We were on the top, 3rd floor, and our apartment was beautiful, and quiet. (If you chose to use the beautiful kitchenette, the charges are higher. We didn't use them.)
