“Peace and quiet”
Reviewed 14 June 2013

This B&B is 2 blocks from the city center where 6 of the 8 UNESCO sites are located. We drove to Ravenna from Venice and immediately got lost once getting to Ravenna. The owner drove to where we parked (unbelievably helpful) and we followed her to a parking lot located a 1/2 block away from her home. The owner bent over backwards to make us feel welcomed and provided the best service. The location of her home was very quiet and has a peaceful garden outside of BOTH doors to our room. The gardens were blooming and smelled so sweet. The owner gave us a map and made suggested sites to see to on the map besides the 6 Unesco sites and another map of taste routes as well. Everything she suggested was spectacular. She even supplied us with bicycles and locks. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was equipped with a hairdryer. It was a delightful 2 night stay and would definitely stay there again if ever we were to head back to Ravenna.

B&B Capannetti could have everything to be the perfect bed & breakfast, starting with its location in the secluded Vicolo Capannetti, a narrow pedestrian lane where absolute quiet reigns. You are a few minutes' walk from the town centre, but you could as well be in a country hamlet in the 19th century. If you have a car, being at the edge of the town centre but slightly out of it is even more convenient than staying at the very heart of the town, because parking in the nearby streets is easy and free.
The 19th-century two-storey house and its small internal garden are cosy, well cared for, furnished and decorated with taste by Claudia, the friendly and helpful owner. The ground-floor rooms have even their private entrance.
Despite all these qualities, a few details should be better cared for. The ground-floor rooms have no shutters, only white curtains that let the light flood the bedroom and inevitably wake you up early in the morning. In our bathroom, the shower box was particularly narrow and uncomfortable and it even lacked a shelf. On our last night, when we tried to switch the small TV set on for the first time, we realized that it was useless because the DVB remote control was nowhere to be found; actually, we didn't really need to watch TV, but if we had wanted to, we wouldn't have been able to. Finally, a Wi-Fi connection would have been welcome.
All in all, B&B Capannetti is not the perfect place it could be, but, considering the beautiful house, the convenient location and the fair price – not to mention the good breakfast, optional but worth the extra €5 per person –, the value for money is good.
One last piece of advice: Vicolo Capannetti is really hard to find, even with a GPS device, because some of them would have you get there from Via San Mama, which actually has no access to Vicolo Capannetti. The only access is from Via Ravegnana, so you should set your destination on your GPS device as the corner between Via Ravegnana and Vicolo Capannetti.

Everything about this B & B was perfect. Our room had its own secure and private entrance and gave onto a lovely courtyard garden filled with greenery and works of art. The bedroom was large and comfortable, carefully furnished with antique furniture and exquisite linens. The en-suite shower room was also decorated in keeping with the style of the house and with references to the great tradition of mosaic work which is so apparent in Ravenna. Breakfast was both generous and healthy, with different kinds of bread and preserves, freshly made coffee, yoghurt and home-made cake. Claudia, the owner, was a kind and attentive hostess, picking us up from the station, and making our stay special in every way. We could not have wished for a better place to stay.

I came to Ravenna for three weeks for workshop and was looking for a nice place, reasonably priced with an option to use a kitchen and have the comfort and privacy of a temporary home.
I am happy I choose Capannetti as I got what I wished for.
It is near the center, about 10-15 minutes walk depending to which part of the center you are going. Very near by there are the facilities of a grocery store, pizza, caffe shop, and fresh pasta place to take home or to eat on site (this pasta was great!!)
