We were going from Gdansk in Poland to Rimini and had booked our stay at another hotel, Hotel Cortina, from Saturday. But we came to Rimini on Thursday and as Cortina was full until Saturday, the manager at Cortina had booked us for the 2 nights before at Hotel Mirna and which was just a few metres down the street. We didn´t know anything about this place, but as we arrived after 12 a.m. we were just glad that we had got a place to stay until Saturday.
Well, we had checked out and found another hotel for the next night 9 hours later..
The hotel appeared to not have been renovated or redecorated for the past 40 years, dark and hideous colors, flaking wallpaper and dirty wall-to-wall carpets in the hallway.. (Probably never been changed).. The room we got was no better.. Dark colours and flaking wallpaper, and it looked like they had been doing some work there in order to change the wallpaper, but that the job had been ended half way through (ended on the middle of the wall) some years ago.. The bathroom was even worse. See photo. No shower curtain and the drainage in the floor didn´t work properly so it took like 40 minutes before the water on the floor after showering was gone.. The bathroom door was totally destroyed after water damages, and there were also mould in the corners of the bathroom. The toilet was an even bigger challenge. It was NOT possible to take up the toilet lid properly because of the pipes behind it, so sitting there gives you a bit of a challenge as you´ll have the lid hanging on your back..
The breakfast was poor, but Italian breakfast is poor as it consists of cake and coffee only.. Almost no selection..
So after finishing our "breakfast" we found another hotel down the street which luckily had one room available for that night.
The staff at Mirna seemed friendly enough, nothing to say about that, but the whole environment was so not nice at all so we didn´t want to spend another minute there. It is rated as a 2 star hotel but compared to the 3 star hotels we stayed at afterwards Mirna is absolutely a 1 star hotel. It´s not that cheaper either, the other hotels in the same street with 3 stars costs only a few Euros more.. Mirna is not worth saving a few Euros.
