Hotel Artide is a basic, value hotel that I would have no trouble staying in again. We basically got what we paid for so didn't have expectations of staying in the Hilton or anything like that.
The area is very convenient. Across the road there are many souvenir shops, cafes and bars as well as a supermarket for keeping stocked with all the essentials. The beach is directly infront of the hotel, meaning it couldn't be easier to soak up some sun or go for a dip late at night (which is what my friend and I did, I would highly recommend it!)
Check in was very simple and straightforward. Our room was booked as a standard twin, but we were happy to find it a triple room - handy for keeping suitcases off the floor and generally made the room feel very spacious. The room was cleaned every morning by a maid, too.
The bathroom was.. interesting. There is a single shower drain in the middle of the room and with no seperate shower cubicle the water did tend to go everywhere. This was not a problem really, (we just covered up the loo roll to keep it dry) and kept our towels on a hook by the door. The pressure and temperature were easily adjustable and very powerful too.
We had a sea facing balcony which was an absolute dream to wake up to. The views of the Adriatic were stunning and easily enjoyed from the chairs provided by Artide.
We did not use the pool as the sea was so close by, but it looked very well maintained and spotlessly clean.
Staff were always pleasant. There was a lovely friendly girl on reception on the evening who spoke excellent English and helped us out with any questions we had.
Points to note:
-It would be safe to say we Scots couldn't have survived without the balcony - as the hotel does not have air conditioning. This made sleeping/overheating a bit of an uncomfortable issue. I got the feeling that Rimini is the sort of place Italians go to on holiday and not really too many people from further north in the hemisphere. Italians would be used to the heat and happy to stay there, so bear this in mind if excessive heat and trying to come up with innovative new ways to cool down just aren't your thing. As I say though for the price we paid and the location of the hotel, we got more than our money's worth.
A budget, no frills hotel. Stuffy at night in July but so was the entire town and not just the hotel, would have benefitted from air-conditioning but thoroughly pleased with the hotel on our budget.
