“Beautiful peak, quaint pedestrian touristy area”
Reviewed 13 April 2014

We visited SM on a road trip and the drive from Rome is breathtaking already, following the Adriatic Sea. The drive up to Monte Titano swirls left and right above the cloud, offering views across the countryside. Worth it only for the view.

But Monte Titano isn't disappointing in itself: a maze of pedestrian streets with quaint little shops, coffee bars, and museums to charm you and make this trip memorable. You can even get a visa stamp at the tourist office in your passport for 5€!

Monte Titano is highly recommended for a romantic gateway as much as group tours and shopping trips. Went at the end of November and, due to high altitude, it was chilly!

“The gem of San Marino”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

The fortification on Monte Titano is nothing to write home about especially compared to the nearby fortress at San Leo. However, it has a view. On a clear day from this highest peak in San Marino you can have a breathtaking view of most of the eastern portion of Emilia-Romagna all the way to the Adriatic Sea.

An interesting fact, the entire country of San Marino, the world’s oldest surviving republic has become the first Wi-Fi state in the world.

“The most beautiful place in Italy isn't even in Italy”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

We went here on a whim and I think both of us agreed that it was the best part of our trip. With beautiful views, a light breeze, twisting roads, and well kept gardens what is not to enjoy? Also just FYI, there are lots of Russians here, so you can choose to speak Italian, Russian, or English. I sort of want to leave it a bad review so that fewer tourists will know about this place - that is how lovely San Marino is. If you are on the fence about going, just do it, you'll be happy you did.

“Above the clouds”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

A high mountain with easy access, big cliffs, and when the fog rolls in (very common) appears to be above the clouds... what's not to like?

“Stunning panoramas !”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

Monte Titano and its towers offer some of the most stunning panoramas that I have ever seen. Exploring the well preserved fortresses and towers one gets a feeling of being transported to bygone ages. One of the towers also houses a good collection of medieval weapons. Beware the route to the top of the towers can involve some tricky climbs. But once you were there you will be rewarded with some truly breathtaking views.
