If your vacationing on Italy's Adriatic coast and looking for an interesting place to visit, the Republic of San Marino is the place to go. It is clean and well kept, the people are friendly and the view is spectacular. It has a wonderful history and there are plenty of stores if your interested in shopping. There are several museums to visit and churches as well, but if your not interested in that, its still a beautiful place just to walk around. The torture museum is interesting but small. If you like games there are plenty of stores that sell game merchandise

This beautiful Repubblica is must see attraction for anyone visiting Adriatic coast in Italy. It is 749 meters above sea level. During the bright sunny day, Croatian coast across the sea can be seen. There are three towers that "keep" San Marino. The view from each of them is magnificent.
Prices in the restaurants and shops are moderate.
Organisation of parking for vehicles is perfect- from the parking elevator brings you up to the entrance of old city. Restaurants with tasty food and drinks are spread allover the castle with magnificent view to Adriatic coast.

Recommendation for another visit!!!

A very nice location with a lots of interesting buildings and steets to visit. Clean and well managed city. But tere are to much stores of different souvenirs, guns among others and shops of different plastic and other strange products. Among others you will find several outlets by the way which is rather too much and not tasty for the city that has this much to offer.

If you are in San marino the best thing to do is walking along the castle visiting the 3 towers. The first part (up to the first tower) might be a bit crowded due to the turists wandering around the city centre and due to the presence of shops. The walk to reach the remaining 2 towers is fantastic as you walk up and down stairs and among walls. The route there is not that busy afterall. Definitely something unique to do!

Just like a previous reviewer, my first thought was that I'd been transported into a storybook illustration of a castle growing directly out of a high mountain peak. Our family of three largely avoided the shops and museums lower down (though we did take in the changing of the guard at the bottom of the hour) and concentrated our visit on hiking from one tower to the next and climbing the two that are open to the public. The top of each one provided stunning views of the other, and of the surrounding countryside. It was great to spend a day outdoors in the fresh air.
