Description: Harry’s Grill is the most exclusive restaurant in Trieste. It was opened in 1972 by Arrigo Cipriani, and it is no coincidence that its interior design reminds one of Harry’s Bar in Venice. It offers regional and international dishes, which one can enjoy while overlooking the charming setting of Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia. The kitchen is open from 12.30 to 14.30 ( or meals are served between… ) and from 19.30 to 22.30. And to enjoy the cocktail of the Duchi you just have to stop at Harry’s Bar!

This is the sister restaurant of the Harry's in Venice. Be sure to make a reservation since there are only 8 tables available for dinner. Great atmosphere and even better food. Highly recommend.

“Elegant surroundings and good food”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

My wife and I had a pleasant lunch in this small but plush room just off the larger Harry's Bar. My calamari fritti was excellent, and my wife enjoyed her pear and gorgonzola salad when it finally arrived. Due to some mix-up, she was brought the wrong salad when the food arrived. I was finished with my meal by the time her replacement salad arrived. When we were seated, we were brought the more expensive evening menu. I had to ask for the lunch menu.

“Lovely setting trying to be a gourmet restaurant - and failing badly”
Reviewed 11 January 2014

The decor and location of Harry's is perfect as well as a cosy dining area perfect for a dinner a cut above the rest. Sadly, the only thing above the rest is the price. Its not only the quality of cooking that's at fault, its the technical development of the menu. Octopus and cream cheese? Fish and mushrooms? Nope. And, for the record, a langoustine is not a lobster even if you price it as lobster. If the design was ill conceived the execution was equally poor - the amuse bouche was overly flavoured and cloying, the pan friend octopus was dry and burnt, the gnocci basically dollups of mashed potato and the sea bream ravioli completely without seasoning. The wine waiter made no attempt to hide his contempt when we did not order an expensive wine and was as rude and supercilious a waiter as I have come across (in case his boss is reading this, we ate in the evening of the 10th Jan). We didn't bother with dessert.

90 euro for a starter, two pasta dishes and two glasses of wine.

“Superb service, very good food & lovely setting”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

The service was impeccable when I was here. I ate in the grill side rather than the restaurant and all my food was very good and fairly reasonably priced considering how well it was cooked. I would definitely go here again.

We stopped in Trieste to rest for a night and we arrived late in the evening with conseiderable hunger accumulated during the travel across hungary which took us almost a day of driving.

We saw some friendly places, some of which were already full, some of which weren't serving anything other than monsters of the sea, so we decided to eat at Harry's grill.

No need to talk about the quality of service, as others have pointed out, death sentences are carried out with more love than the meals in this place.

The starters were okay, i guess (buffalo mozarella, salad, some bread). The main course was totally disappointing, the risotto was hard and the meat on top of it, supposedly sheep, completely lacked of taste.
We weren't only attacked by occasional windblows that would frighten an experience Himalayan sherpa, but beggars that encountered no opposition whatsoever from the waiters.

Mark my words, the restaurants in the surrounding streets are the way to go if you want to eat well (and in peace) in Trieste.
