We were four people travelling, and arrived in Trieste rather late in the day, with no reservations. We started asking around, trying to find a reasonably priced hotel for one night. Novo Hotel was one of them, also offering breakfast, and as we also liked the location we booked a quadruple room. The hotel has a deal with covered parking lot, ideal for those who are travelling by car.

The people at the reception were nice and helpful.

The room was quite nice - not the modern type, but rooms were very spacious and had high ceilings, there was good wi-fi and the shower was perfect.

As I like to eat healthy, I was extremely disappointed with the breakfast. There were no fresh products at all, instead there were several options of heavily processed or packaged food. Luckily there was some plain yoghurt - but I made the mistake to add some heavily sugared cereal... I believe that adding some fresh fruit or excellent Italian cheese would really upgrade the experience.

I really do not have any major complaints about this hotel. It's not bad but also not great. It's average.

What ruins the charm of this hotel, is that in the hallway the wall seem full of fire hoses, fire extinguishers and ugly red water pipes.

At hotel management: please invest a couple of euros buy matching wall mounts for your televisions. How our TV was fixed was a masterpiece of Italian engineering (please see photo).

This is hotel is a great base for exploring Trieste, central location, close to the rail and bus station. Many attractions within walking distance. Rooms were clean and comfortable with wifi and air conditioning.

We had a one night stop here on our way to Croatia, and of all the hotels we stayed at on a 12 day trip, this is the one I was most pleased with. Service was friendly, and check in quick. Rooms are basic, but clean and our room was very large with high ceilings and a seperate bedroom for the children--all at an affordable price. Internet is included, and so is breakfast. The breakfast is italian style, basically a bunch of sugary bread and cakes, but again, I'm not complaining, at least you get something--which in my opinion is better than the totally overpriced breakfast on offer at fancier hotels. We stayed at other hotels on the trip where I felt that the only goal was to suck as much money out of you as possible, by any means possible, so how refreshing to find an unpretentious, friendly hotel that offered real value.

Very central location in downtown Trieste, so we got to see a few sites before driving on.

The hotel is quaint and charming, it is old style european--it reminded me of the hotels I stayed at in italy on my first trip to Europe in the late 80's. That is to say that the hotel is not incredibly modern, but well cared for. I really liked it, and with the great value, I recommend it. There is a parking garage nearby you can use to park your car, priced at a reasonable 10 euro per day. There is a small refrigerator in the room for sodas and beer-- much appreciated on a hot day, and you can buy beers downstairs.

So to sum up, we were very happy with our night in the hotel

The location of this hotel is superb, almost opposite the central railway station and an easy walk to most amenities and shops. Rooms are basic, but you'll be paying for location rather than style. We found the staff friendly and helpful.

the room was spacious, clean and the feel of the old world charm therough out the hotel. very convenient location, right across the plaza from main train station. breakfast was good. They didn't have any problem that we left our luggages there for 3 days. A good layover place for going to istria, croatia. not mentioning trieste itself already a beautiful city.

The hotel is old with old furniture and dirty curtains. They have some problems with the A/C as it seems in some of the rooms it was too hot and in some cold. Great location right across the Central Station so you can get anywhere by bus or train. The breakfast was poor. Only croissants, crackers, jam and nutella. There was no fresh juice or coffee machine. If you wanted coffee you had to ask the waitress and she would bring it to you. The only possitive mark is the staff. Absolutely great service starting from the reception desk to the breakfast lady and the house keeping. Whatever you need they are always ready to help.
