I f you are after a tasteful boutique style B&B with warm friendly staff then we highly recommend L'Albero Nascosto. We stayed in this delightful small spot 6 years ago as a family and returned this time in summer. The staff were very accommodating, allowing us to arrive late and assisting with closely located secure car park. The hotel was exactly as we remembered it, beautifully renovated rooms and excellent amenities. We were allocated a room on the top floor which is probably not recommended for those not partial to stairs. There is a wonderful loft space `nido' which was used by one of our children and the staff made a single trundle bed available for the other. The morning breakfast is a highlight with fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, croissants, local cheese and jams.... and excellent coffee. The location in the `citta vecchia' means that it is conveniently close to all the major attractions of the city. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning again!! Grazie Aldo se vedemo alla prossima!

This small hotel is apparently the product of a renovation project, and every detail has been thoughtfully and carefully executed. The location, a few blocks from the busy Piazza dell'Unita d'Italia and the gorgeous Riva, is convenient and gave us the opportunity to explore some back streets and piazze in search of food and drink.

The cozy entrance from the narrow street didn't prepare us for the large, light spacious room with a real king-size bed, kitchenette and warm wooden floors. Parts of the old walls remain, a tiny glassed-in courtyard next to the desk brings light and greenery inside, and the turntable in the bar/breakfast room is actually used to play classic LPs. The bathroom was brightened by a wall of frosted windows, and the windows in the main room opened onto the street below. A bottle of local wine was one of the stocked items, and the price wasn't the usual outrageous minibar minifortune, but the same price we would have paid in a local shop - and was excellent as all of the Friuli wines seem to be. Each room is named after a kind of wood, and the wooden floors and furniture and carefully-designed lighting help make the rooms warm and inviting. The staff (were they all family?) are friendly, helpful and interesting folks - the older gentleman gave us a brief lesson in French art-glass, some items of which were on display in the hallway. The only negative was the lack of an elevator to our 2nd floor (US 3rd) room.

Albero Nascosto was one more reason we would like to have stayed longer in Trieste. We'll know to plan for a longer stay next time.

Room Tip: If stairs are an issue, ask for first (US 2nd) floor.

We stayed here for three nights. Our room was very large and comfortable, with king bed, a spacious modern bathroom, a kitchenette and dining table. Breakfast is included, and it was excellent: fresh fruits, good cereals, bread, croissants, yogurt, and coffee to order. The service is excellent and multi-lingual. When we needed special help to arrange an early morning taxi to the port, it was all taken care of with a smile. The hotel is perfectly located, too: just around a corner from the main pedestrian section leading to the city's main square, and in the midst of lots of shops and bars (but without the noise). Free Wi-Fi, too. Highly recommended.

We stayed 2 nights at this delightful small hotel, well- located in central Trieste. Rooms were good size with small kitchen, very clean with excellent cooling which was needed as it was very hot during our stay and an afternoon siesta was perfect respite! The hotel staff were fantastic....very helpful with everything, even booked bus tickets for us to Slovenia which was quite a lot of effort. Also some great recommendations for local restaurants. Continental breakfast is provided including excellent coffee cereal croissants etc.
A great place to stay, good value and highly recommended

This was recommended by a local friend and he wasn't lying when he said it's excellent - the service is wonderful and friendly, the reception is more like a sitting room with books, tables and coffee anytime! We stayed there for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. This place is obviously a labour of love - the rooms are wonderfully furnished, with quirky and interesting (but functional!) furniture, in true Italian flare. The breakfast though is something not to be missed. Every item has been specially selected and their jams and spreads are second to none. You can buy some to take with you as well, which is highly recommend. They source everything from the Slow Movement, you can get some of the local produce in an outdoor market in the area around the Canal. As for the l'Albero, this is now our favourite and 1st choice place to stay when visiting Trieste!

Room Tip: all rooms are great, we had one on the first floor...

We had great service here. Wh Whatever our request, Donatella was always there to assist. 10 rooms only, ours was spacious and our 3 days here were very comfortable. Easy walking distance to key aspects of town and conveniently placed opposite a laundromat. Breakfast, included in price, was delicious with excellent selection.

This small hotel is well run by a friendly and helpful family. The renovated building is interesting and quirky in the characterful area of the old city. Rooms have been refurbished in a typically modern Italian way while retaining some old features. Stairs to the rooms are fairly steep.
Location is perfect for sightseeing on foot, towards the bottom of a steep hill that leads to the Castle San Giusto. Bars and restaurants are close, but not too close.
We had a thoroughly pleasant stay.

Room Tip: No fitness centre or full restaurant although the breakfast room is fine.
